Chapter7 Caius Appeared.

Jax usually followed his sister Vivienne's orders.

But this time, he paused, looking confused: "Why are you telling me to stop? I can teach her a lesson quickly..."

Vivienne rushed over and furiously twisted his ear: "How could I have a brother as hopelessly stupid as you!"

"You kidnapped someone and dared to openly use the Knight family's luxury car? Now Caius is asking me why you publicly kidnapped an ordinary guest of the Thorne Group Hotel, causing the guest's family to call the police!"

"And who told you to kidnap her!"

"I told you to ruin her stripper job, or secretly send her to some sadist's bed! Who told you to make social news?!"

Jax's face turned completely red from the scolding: "Stop it! Isn't it because you didn't explain clearly to me?"

The siblings started arguing fiercely.

"Alright, what's all the fuss?"

Linnea laughed contemptuously, as if watching a pair of unruly troublemakers throwing a tantrum.

Vivienne got annoyed: "Do you have the right to speak? Believe me, I'll slap your face raw..."

Linnea interrupted her:

"My stepsister, have you been enjoying your time with my fiancé these past few years?"

At that, Vivienne's face stiffened.

Clearly, Vivienne had desperately tried to please that man for years, but got nothing in return.

Caius only gave her a false, prematurely canceled "engagement party."

They had no marriage certificate, no legal marriage, no property, no affection. Caius had never even touched her.

All this was because, on the day of the engagement party, he had whispered to her:

"I don't remember your name, but... I know you, a bastard, stole your sister's place as the bride."

"But unfortunately, I absolutely despise bastards."

"So, anything you want, I won't give it to you."

Recalling the humiliating past, Vivienne gritted her back teeth with hatred.

She stared intensely at her stepsister.

Linnea had been slandered and abandoned by everyone, living a rough, lonely life.

Yet, her cruel reality didn't seem to be able to extinguish the fire burning in her chest. Linnea gave them a proud smile:

"Just wait. Everything you took, I will take back, every last bit!"

"How dare you be so insolent..." Jax stopped mid-curse.

Because out of the corner of his eye, he saw a tall, imposing figure standing by the door.

Caius stepped into the warehouse, looking surprised at the scene: "What's going on?"

Vivienne quickly put on a smile and simultaneously signaled the bodyguards to block Linnea:

"Caius, what brings you here?"

"To check on my hotel's VIP, of course." Caius pointed to the hidden Linnea. "Are you still bullying her?"

Jax stammered: "No, not at all... It's just a misunderstanding! I got the wrong person!"

"Oh, it's not good to accuse the wrong person," Caius said mildly.

The two siblings continued to force smiles, telling their subordinates to "escort" Linnea out, while rushing to apologize and beg for Caius's forgiveness.

Linnea, however, had completely frozen the moment Caius arrived.

...Caius, why is he here?

She had no family! Her only close friend, Cora, was working overtime right now!

Did Caius get a tip-off and come to rescue her? Did he figure out her real identity...

Dazedly, she was led out of the warehouse. Caius's subordinate stopped her:

"Please wait a moment. Mr. Caius wants to see you."

A few minutes later, she met him in Caius's exclusive car. Caius beckoned her over, and when she got close, he lightly clasped her neck: "Linnea, don't you recognize the brand of this car?"

Was he suspicious of her identity?

Linnea felt wronged: "Caius, do you think I got into the car on purpose? Aside from being a poor girl, I let my guard down only because I woke up and found you'd abandoned me, right?"

Caius looked at her with a half-smile.

Linnea leaned in, hugging his waist tightly:

"Caius, I'm scared. I was kidnapped by your wife, and I'm your secret mistress, aren't I?"

"What if she kills me? I'm afraid of dying..."

Caius suddenly cut to the chase: "Are you seeking my protection?"

Linnea asked expectantly: "Can I?"

Caius's reaction was to use his firm, powerful hand to slowly pull apart the arms clinging to his waist. He smiled and stated:

"Of course not."

"Besides, I've never seen anyone ask a killer for help."

Linnea realized the car door was open only when he shoved her away, making her tumble onto the ground outside.

"Caius..."

The car sped away.

Linnea, having eaten a mouthful of tailpipe exhaust, felt a surge of passion blocked in her chest. She furiously cursed at the retreating car:

"Crazy psycho! Violent maniac! One day you'll be groveling at my feet begging for my forgiveness!"

"Ms. Linnea?"

Linnea's insult abruptly stopped.

She turned and saw the subordinate and the driver Caius had left behind.

She stammered, trying to cover up her frantic outburst: "Uh, I, I was just letting out some steam after being kidnapped..."

"Would you like us to schedule a therapist for you?"

"No, that won't be necessary."

As a rich kid, Linnea had been kidnapped more than once growing up.

The subordinate was understanding and didn't reprimand her for insulting their boss. Instead, he nodded to her: "If you're okay, ma'am, please get in the car."

"Mr. Caius instructed us to take you to the luxurious apartment he prepared for you."

"Huh?" Linnea was stunned.

"He heard that the security and utilities in your current apartment are not very good."

What does this mean?

He toyed with her just now, and now he’s making it up to her? Caius really knows how to mess with people’s minds!

But when she arrived at the new apartment and saw how every detail screamed luxury and the jaw-dropping conditions, she couldn't stop the smile creeping onto her lips.

Caius called right on time. The subordinate handed the phone to her.

Linnea held the phone to her ear and couldn't help but ask: "Caius, what is this all about? Why are you arranging such a nice place for me?"

"Does it need explaining?"

"I don't dare accept a casual gift."

"Should I compliment you for being cautious?" Caius scoffed. Then, with an incredibly matter-of-fact tone, he said, "It's obvious. My little cat should sleep in a golden litter box. Even if you're only temporarily adopted. At least the security is tight, so a cat burglar can't just snatch you away like today, right?"

Linnea froze for a moment.

Was this Caius offering her protection?

But immediately after, Caius said:

"But the most important condition, of course, is that I can screw you in a more comfortable setting... I have high standards for the quality of my sex life."

"...Caius!"

Linnea cried out in embarrassment.

Caius chuckled with pleasure:

"Or do you have any other suggestions for the apartment's decor?"

"How about a room full of mirrors? A waterbed? Floor-to-ceiling windows? A prop room? Do you want those?"

Linnea's face instantly flushed hot:

"Go do your thing, you creep!"

She hung up quickly, slamming the phone down before Caius could respond.

Then, she slumped into the sofa in self-pity. She couldn't help but worry about her tough future.

This Caius... she probably couldn't win against him!
