Chapter 4
After crying all night, lamenting my misfortune, I woke up with swollen eyes. I sat on the edge of the bed, scanning the room to make sure Thane was not in here. Then, I got up and headed to the bathroom to wash my face.
This place is too luxurious. Should I feel unlucky or fortunate? On one hand, I feel terrible for acquiring all this by being bought by a rich man. But on the other hand, I feel grateful. The man seems kind, though his face looks stern.
I just realized, this room feels empty. It seems Thane is really not here. Where could he be now?
Yes ... I should wash my face with water to look fresher. Crying last night made my face look worse, but I can't deny that it's all because of my father’s debt to Mr. Brams. My life has been a torment, leading me to end up here.
I didn't take long in the bathroom. After finishing up, I decided to leave the room, still wearing the same clothes. I wanted to see if Thane was still in the penthouse.
I slowly opened the bedroom door, wanting to make sure no one was guarding it by peeking a little. It turned out Thane didn't order anyone to guard the door. I felt a bit relieved and decided to open the door wider and step out. Unfortunately, just as I stepped out of the room, I saw Thane standing in front of me with a sharp gaze.
"Sir?" I called nervously.
Thane didn’t respond to my call, but instead, he said, "We’ll have breakfast together."
As soon as he finished his sentence, Thane turned around and headed to the dining room. We sat across from each other, and Thane immediately focused on his food, and so did I.
In the midst of our activities, Thane suddenly explained something that confused me. Despite that, I kept listening to him talk.
"You should feel lucky that I bought you. I spent a hundred million dollars to bring you here."
Is he insane? A hundred million dollars is no small amount. I could buy several houses with that money. I could even start a small business. What was he thinking when he spent that much money just for me?
"Are you aware of your actions? That money is too much just to get me, Sir. Even my debt to Mr. Brams is only a few thousand dollars. What exactly is your goal in buying me?" I couldn't stand this man.
I thought he would immediately answer my question. But he remained silent and continued eating. I couldn’t think clearly; he managed to confuse me even more.
Before he could respond to my question with some hurtful or frightening statements, I quickly spoke up again.
"I will work as a servant here."
Unexpectedly, my statement caught Thane's attention. He put down his utensils and looked at me.
"Didn’t I already tell you that you are the mistress of this penthouse? You don’t have to do anything. You have personal servants, nice clothes, a comfortable place, and everything here is at your disposal, Elin."
I was very surprised by his words. It’s true, he did say last night that I was the mistress here. But I thought it was just his idle talk.
"You can have everything. Even if you need money to buy something, here ... you can use this." Thane handed me a black card with the words "black card" on it.
I had seen a similar card on a TV show. It’s a special credit card that only the wealthy and chosen ones can have. Thane had one, and it felt terrifying even though it seemed beneficial to me.
"You only need to be a servant in bed." I was about to retort, but Thane got up from his seat and approached me.
He cornered me, standing right in front of my face. His hands pinned me on either side of the chair I was sitting in.
"I will be very busy after this. There are guards here who will look after you. You have personal servants and bodyguards here."
I nodded after Thane explained the situation in this place. Right after that, he kissed me again. I don’t know why I couldn’t resist whenever Thane did that. I was sure my face was turning red from embarrassment.
After Thane released me, he turned around and stepped out of the penthouse. It seemed Thane was really busy, not wasting time to quickly leave.
It had been several hours since Thane left. In this place, I felt like a queen. The servants pampered me greatly. They didn’t let me take care of the penthouse; they wouldn’t even let me get a glass of water.
One of the servants was always around me, ready if I needed anything at that moment.
While staying here, I walked around to see what was inside. Not just outside the bedroom, but in the room I slept in last night, I saw there was another room besides the bathroom. I asked the servant to accompany me there.
"Ma’am, this is your wardrobe." The servant opened the door, and I saw a large, spacious walk-in closet.
Oh my gosh! This place is so spacious. There are plenty of spaces for clothes, footwear, bags, and even jewelry. Everything is so complete that I couldn’t close my mouth out of astonishment.
"Is all this mine?" I asked the servant.
"Yes, of course, Ma’am. All of this is yours."
I walked over to one of the wardrobes. There were some beautiful dresses that looked luxurious and expensive. The servant helped me pick a white dress with a sakura flower motif on the right side.
"Please, Ma’am." I took the dress and tried it on.
The clothes in the wardrobe fit me perfectly. It’s as if Thane had met me before and knew all my clothing sizes.
"So beautiful. I even look like someone else. Oh my ..."
I noticed that all the brands in the wardrobe were not ordinary brands. It would take a few hundred dollars for a dress like this. Now I was wearing it, and Thane said all this was mine. Can I really think that way?
The servant behind me also praised me. She smiled and continued explaining everything I asked. Until I became curious about Thane.
"What exactly is Mr. Thane’s job? How can he have all this?" I muttered, hoping the servant would hear and answer.
Sure enough, just as I closed my mouth, she explained who Thane was.
"Mr. Thane is the leader of XXXX. Of course, Mr. Thane can easily get all this. Especially now that you are in a place that is yours by Mr. Thane’s order."
I was shocked when the servant mentioned the name XXXX. That name is so terrifying. I had heard of it before. It turned out Thane is their leader.
