Chapter Two

Hearing the question, I remembered everything now. This was the day he proposed to me when I was about answering the question of whether I’ll give my sister a high position which ended up making me not answering that question.

I scoffed out, “No.” I said, “Not now, not forever, not in a million year or generations will I ever say yes to your proposal, I won’t and I can’t marry you.” My face void of emotions.

His face still felt new to me, like I was just getting to know him again after the incident, I felt surreal. He gasped out in shock.

That was the most embarrassing yet hilarious way of declining a proposal, it must have took him all courage for him to decide to propose in front of the press.

“If you would excuse the conference and don’t distract it with your proposal, can you please use the door.” I tried to say as polite as I could, he stood up and looked at me one last time before leaving.

Time to answer the question I was unable to answer then. “I’m sorry for the distraction. Where are we?” I smiled out to them.

The same question was asked by the same reporter which made me reply, “I worked my way to the top even though father could just appoint me immediately as the chair woman so I think my sister should also do the same “

”Like father will always say, it only makes sense when you do it yourself than wait for people to do it for you because people can fail at times.“

They all clapped at my speech and I could tell they were l satisfied with it, the press conference was rounded up with few more questions and everyone went home.

After getting to my office, I checked the date again and realizing I was right, I traveled back in time. I have a chance to redeem all my choice ahd even what I thought would be impossible.

Since I reject Karl, news was spreading fast about what happened at the companies, everyone will smile when they saw me but I knew they were gossiping about what I did to Karl.

Lilly barged into my office interrupting my thought, ”What was that about Rissa, why will you say you wouldn’t promote my position to a higher one, that was what you promised me in the morning.“ She screamed. Does she ever get tired of screaming about something that isn’t worth it.

” I think you’ll cherish it more if you work for it and not one that you just get for not doing anything.“ She sounded annoyed but maybe that was just the beginning.

I need to proof the reason why I decline Karl’s proposal was because he was cheating on me. ”Seriously Rissa, you’ll regret ever making that decision, I promise.“

She doesn’t even have to tell me that, I regret ever making the decision I made once so will it be safe if I make the same mistake twice, it wouldn’t make it fun anymore will it?

After she was gone, I sat down on the chair and sighed, I knew I was too harsh doing that but I had no choice.

It’s either one of us, either I die, or she take the hit. Even though I knew it was dangerous choosing this part as well but there’s something I still needed to figure out.

After a while, a knock came in, ”Come in.“ l answered, Karl came in looking rather annoyed.

”what was the nonsense you performed at the press conference today Rissa?“ That was the first question he asked after coming in.

Staring at him, I started wondering what I saw in him to begin with, he suddenly disgust me, I was so blinded by love that I ignored all the red flags which was supposed to serve as a clue to ended the relationship.

”Why will you propose at a press conference, it’s a press conference for a reason, it was to announce what was important and at the same time, clear the air for rumors that was rather disturbing , do you think that was the right moment to propose huh.“

Until I find evidence, I need to let them be in the dark. I just have to keep finding excuse to make them feel as though I was the same.

”Okay fine I’m sorry for that but either way, you could have just accepted my proposal, my company stock drop down because of this outrageous behavior.“ An idea crept into my mind just as he said so.

”Hubby, I wasn’t thinking straight when I rejected the proposal, I must have been out of my mind, and that was why I said everything I did.“ He sighed at my statement and went to sit on the chair beside him.

I sat on him , brushing my hands into his hair, ”We can arrange another press conference to let people know we are in good terms and it was because I was stressed out from the new position I was given, that was why I rejected the proposal.“ I suggested, he seemed relax by that and slicked his hand into the under of my cloth rubbing my stomach with his hand.

”That sound like a great suggestion honey, it’ll solve out the issue without causing problems for any of us again.“ I was uncomfortable with the way he was touching me , he wanted to kiss me when I stopped him.

”Is anything wrong?“ I can’t afford letting him find out now or he’ll be suspicious. I pecked him before he could ask any more question.

”Not at all, I just felt we should start preparing for the press conference now before your company stock will drop more further.“ I said quickly and smiled to cover up.

He agreed to it and walked out. I let out the breath I didn’t know I was holding immediately he went out. My secretary, Lisa came in.

”Miss, you need to sign this to approve the new project.“ I remember the project she was talking about, this was the project dad saw which made him so excited that he announced his successor.

I signed it and just as she was about leaving, I remembered I once overheard workers saying she was raised by a fortune teller and the woman was quite legit.

”Lisa.“ I called her name, she looked back and smiled, ”Is it true you were raised by a fortune teller?“ She nodded hee head to it.

”She stopped a while ago and I think it was because she saw something, she said until it’s back to normal then she wouldn’t see any more fortune.“

Why do I feel as though it was because of me, time went back because of me. I felt relieved hearing that and asked her to go.

I request two tiny camera from one of the shopping carts online , it was delivered to me later in the evening so I went to a flower store to get two bouquets of flowers.

Karl knew I love flowers so he wouldn’t question me much on my choice of giving him flowers to keep in his office and his house.

I remembered Lily always fantasize over Damien Martinez, Ceo of D Elite builders. Their company is the one best construction company in USA, California.

She always wished he was the one she’ll get married to but nobody has successfully secure a dinner date with him. It was said he was gay but considering his last relationship, his ex fiancée, Morgana Anderson proofed the theory wrong so everyone came to conclude he was still in love with her.

I knew just the right person who could help me successfully secure a date with him unknown to him. I’ll go for what she most wanted.

She’ll felt as though she was the purest but I want her to feel the same way I felt. I dropped the first flower in his office before proceeding to go to his house.

«New press conference day»

Standing in front of the press again, with Karl beside me. He was smiling so much that I thought his cheek will end up tearing off. Or maybe someone could just punch the smile out of his face.

”Hello, I’m Clarissa Devor, new Ceo of Darcel group. I’m head to clear out the air of rumors which has been going on for a while now after I rejected Karl here.“

Karl stood ready to kneel down to propose again when I stopped him.

”Last week, I had my suspicions of Karl cheating on me but I had to lay low till I find enough evidence and proof of my suspicions. Just two days ago, the cctv camera I had installed for safety showed me something I could never want to believe.“

I faced Karl and land him a resounding slap, he tried to retaliate but seeing the press there, he tried calming himself down.

” I could have solved this privately but he wanted a press conference so badly to redeem for what happened the other day, he wanted to propose to me again so the rumor will die down but you couldn’t think it straight before you decided to cheat on me with my own blood sister.“

I dropped the bombshell, the television at the press conference room turned on showing video of their affair.
