Chapter 5

Wren POV

The music is thumping loudly. It would usually give me a headache, but Sadie keeps handing me drinks. She is swaying beside me at the bar while Sophie and Scarlett grind on each other on the dance floor. Men approach them, but they wave them away with a flick of their hands. I thought they were coming here to find a man, but they seem to only care about each other's company.

"Am I keeping you from dancing with your sisters?" I ask Sadie.

My words are more slurred than I expected, and Sadie laughs. "I am not as bold as they are. I like to sit here and drink."

Someone approaches me from behind and lays his hands on my waist. Before I can turn to see who it is, Sadie is out of her seat. "Back away, Asshole. She's not interested."

"Let the lady speak for herself," he growls at Sadie.

I turn to look at him. He's not bad looking, but Sadie is right. I am not interested. "Sorry. Not interested."

"Why are you even here then?" He grumbles before walking away.

I don't understand what he is talking about. Lots of people go to clubs with their friends. I scan the club and see several rooms lined up along the dance floor. I watch carefully as couples disappear from the dance floor and into the rooms. I wait for them to emerge, but they don't—at least not for a while.

I nudge Sadie with my elbow. "What are those?"

Sadie giggles drunkenly. "Those are playrooms."

I wrinkle my nose. "Playrooms?"

Sadie leans in close. "A lot of our parents are still old school. Even though they know we will never find a fated mate, they don't want us to have a good time. So, places like this have opened. It gives us a place to enjoy each other without disappointing our parents."

I look back at the dance floor. Scarlett has just punched a guy in the face for trying to come in between her and Sophia. It doesn't look like triplets come here for the same reasons everyone else does.

"What about you and your sisters?" I ask.

Sadie shrugs. "Sometimes we come here for sex, but other times we come here for each other. Sophia is getting pretty serious with Darius. She isn't interested in random hook ups anymore. She will probably leave with him tonight. Scarlett will find a couple to play with. I will probably fuck someone by the end of the night, but I don't want to leave you here alone."

I am sure my eyes are wide with shock, but I can't stop giggling. All of these people are here to fuck, and everyone acts like it isn't a big deal. I find myself wishing I had this sort of freedom. If I didn't have a mate, I could do as I pleased. My mind wanders to Alpha Charlie. I wonder if he will still be awake when we return to the Gravestone Pack house.

Suddenly, the hairs on the back of my neck stand up. I have felt like this before, but this time is different.

Sadie is looking over my shoulder, and she winks at someone. I spin in my chair, and my mouth drops open. There he is, my mate. Goddess, he looks delicious.

Destin moves through the crowd effortlessly. Women drag their hands over his shoulders, and I snarl under my breath. He is mine. Though, I have no reason to be upset. He dismisses them all. His eyes are focused on mine, and my core clenches with need.

Before I can process the idea that he is here, he is standing in front of me. "Sadie," he says, not taking his eyes off me.

"We haven't seen you in a while," she bats her eyelashes at him. A surge of jealousy flows through me, and I growl.

Destin's eyes are filled with amusement. "I have been busy, Sophia."

"I'm not Sophia. You literally just said my name," she groans, but then her mouth drops open with realization. "I can see I am the third wheel. I am going to dance with my sisters."

Sliding off her chair, she leans in close. "You better give us the details. We have been trying to fuck him for years."

I want to beg her to stay, but I can't take my eyes off Destin. He extends his hand. "Come with me."

The alcohol has made me brave. "Where exactly are we going?"

"Home," he hisses.

"No," I spit. "I came here to have fun."

I expect him to be mad, but he isn't. "You are here to have fun?"

"Yes," I answer boldly. "I have needs, and my mate is a prude."

"You are drunk, Princess," he laughs.

"Don't call me Princess," I growl. "And I have been drunker, but you wouldn't know that. You don't know anything about me."

He leans in close. Too close. My body is on fire. His breath is hot on my ear. "You want to have fun?"

Pulling my lip between my teeth, I nod. What have I gotten myself into?

"Come with me."

This time, when he offers me his hand, I take it. He pulls me off the chair and leads me through the crowd. Unlike outside, no one is looking at me. In here, I am just another face, another woman looking for a good time.

Destin unlocks one of the doors and leads me into a playroom. The door shuts behind me, and I jump. I can feel the heat of his body against my back. "Use the mind link to tell the triplets I am taking you home."

I swallow hard before searching for the triplets. It takes longer than usual because the alcohol is clouding my mind. 'Hey, I am going to catch a ride home with Destin.'

'Shut up!' Sophia squeals. 'We want all the details.'

Destin's hands are resting on my hips, and I block off the mind link. The hem of my skirt is rising up my thighs and sparks are flowing all over my body. I want to enjoy this moment, but the room feels too hot and my mouth starts to water. Oh fuck, how much did I have to drink?

I shove Destin away and throw myself into the corner of the room. Vomit rises in my throat, and I start to cry. Please, not now. I have been waiting for this moment. I can't ruin it now.

But the Moon Goddess is a cruel bitch. I double over and puke into the corner of the room. When I think I am finally done, more comes up. This has to be the most embarrassing moment of my life.

Destin's hand is making small circles on my back. "Come on, Kitten. I will take you home."
