Chapter 15

Annalise looked at Nelly. She could not figure out where this question was coming from. Did she already figure out that she was with someone last night? But how could she have known something like that? She had not talked about it to anyone yet. "What do you mean?" Annalise asked.

Nelly looked at her. She was sure now that she was hiding something. There was something that she wasn't telling her. She did not answer her question immediately but she tried to avoid it. "Yesterday, I was at your place. I was supposed to go to a birthday party and I wanted to go with you but I did not find you at home. Where were you?" Nelly asked.

Annalise sighed. So that was what happened. She decided to tell Nelly. It wasn't as if she was trying to keep it a secret from her anyway. She did not do anything wrong. "Last night I had dinner with a guy," Annalise replied. She seemed really cool about it but in actual truth, her mind was a mess.

Nelly was instantly interested. She had gone on a date with someone? Nelly had thought that she was going to have some difficulty getting into a relationship after what happened with that jerk, Dalton. It seemed like she did not need to worry about her anyway. She was already having dinner with guys.

"Really? You really had dinner with a guy yesterday? I thought that you were going to have difficulty with relationships after what happened between you and Dalton. Who knew that you were going to be over it so soon? This is really great!" Nelly said. She was more excited than Annalise herself.

Annalise was taken aback. Who said anything about a relationship? She just said that she had dinner with him. What had that got to do with a relationship?

"Don't you think that you are getting ahead of yourself here? I just said that I had dinner with him. Who said anything about a relationship?"

Nelly shook her head. "What are you talking about? Why would someone come to ask you out for a date if he wasn't interested in you in that way at all? Do you know what you are talking about? That person is definitely interested in you!" Nelly's cheeks poked into a smile. She had not even met the person and she was already so sure of it.

Annalise shook her head. She knew Nelly really well. She knew that she wasn't going to stop if she did not tell her everything. "Well you see that man is actually the owner of this building. He's the one who owns this place and all the other buildings around here. Technically, he is my landlord. He was just here to check on the progress of his tenant," Annalise explained.

Nelly was a bit surprised. But still, she believed that there was a chance for something to happen. Why would he come to ask her out for a dinner date if he really saw her as only a tenant? "Still, why would he do that? If he wasn't interested?'' Nelly asked. Clearly, she didn't have any intentions of dropping this topic.

Annalise rolled her eyes. She decided to just go all out and tell her everything. "You really should stop getting ahead of yourself like this. It isn't good at all! Do you even know what you are talking about? I've met him before. He was there that day when I decided to quit my job at Uncle Fluffy. My ex boss asked me to take him out and he did not want to go. Somehow, he thinks that I quit my job because of him. I guess that he felt bad and he wanted to apologize for that. There is really nothing else going on besides that," Annalise said. Hopefully, Nelly was going to drop it.

Nelly was a bit disappointed. "So tell me, did anything happen during your dinner with him? Did the both of you talk about anything with each other? Tell me all about it," Nelly said. Since she said that there was nothing going on, she should at least hear some gossip from Anna in exchange. For some reason, Nelly was sure that this was going somewhere.

"Well, dinner with him yesterday was great. We went to have steak," Annalise said.

"And...." Nelly asked, pushing her.

"And then he asked me if I had a boyfriend," Annalise said. She made sure to leave out the part of the kiss otherwise Nelly would never let her be.

"What?!"
