Chapter 12

Annalise did not know what came over her at that moment. She was sure that what she wanted to say to that man was for him to leave her alone and get lost. After all, he was the one who got her into a lot of trouble. But after some hesitation, she still found herself saying yes to him. Maybe it was because of her new found knowledge of him being her landlord, she could not tell. But she still found herself agreeing to dinner with him. "Sure. Let's go" Annalise said.

Zayn smiled. He had to admit that he was happy. He did not know that she was going to agree with him as soon as possible. He thought that she was at least going to make a fuss and refuse to go with him. But she agreed and he was really happy about that. "Alright then. What would you like to eat? Steak? What do you want?" Zayn asked. He really wanted to know her opinion so he would not make any mistakes. Ever since that day he saw her in that office, she had peaked his interest.

Annalise did not think that she was in a position to choose. He was the one who was going to treat her out, right? Then he should be the one to pick. She did not like imposing on people. And since learning that he was her landlord, subconsciously, she had started to be reserved in front of him. She did not want him to see her as some demanding woman. "I don't really have any preferences. After all, you are the one who offered to take me out to dinner. I'm okay with whatever you choose," she said.

For a second, Zayn was taken aback. All the women that he had spent time with before were not like this. They were always demanding in a coquettish manner. He suddenly did not know what to say. He was used to treating others. "You are right. I am the one who wants to treat you. That is why I insist that you make your own choice. I'm a gentleman, you see," Zayn said. Immediately he said this, he flashed her a killer smile.

For a second, Annalise forgot that they were talking about what they were going to have for dinner. She was lost looking at this man. He was really very handsome. With his blond hair and that chiseled face, he had the ability to make any woman swoon. Just now when he smiled at her, she felt like a bell had gone off in her head. His smile had the ability to light up a room. Annalise was brought back to the present when she saw that he was still looking at her. She had to give him a reply. "Alright. Let's eat steak then."

Since he kept insisting, she felt that there was no need for her to keep refusing him. If she did that, he would think that she was trying to act coy with him. That was something that she would never do. And besides, it had been a really long day for her. She just wanted to have a really good dinner and go home to rest. Since she was going to get a free dinner, she decided to take advantage of it and give herself a real treat.

Zayn smiled. He was happy that she finally decided to choose in the end, if she did not do that, then he would not have known what he was going to say to her in a situation like this. At least, she did not pressure him anymore and chose something. Without realizing it, he was in a mood to eat steak. Was it because of her? He did not know yet. Since she agreed to go with him, he decided to focus on this dinner date now. "Alright then. Let's go." He was still smiling. He did not think that it would be this easy to convince her.

Zayn and Annalise left the salon together. Since she was already planning to close down for the day anyway, there was no need for them to stand during the ceremony. She closed up and they got out together. Annalise looked at the car that was parked outside. Obviously it was his, she did not know much about cars but at least she knew that something like this must be really expensive. She was starting to wonder just how much money this person had.

Zayn brought her to a high class restaurant. Since Annalise was always tagging along with Nelly to come to places like this, she could tell that this restaurant was going to be expensive. Annalise decided not to think much about it. He was the one who wanted to treat her anyway. Besides, he was her landlord. Since he was her landlord, they should at least have a good relationship. After what happened with her former boss, she did not want a boss like that again. She still bothered about the money this restaurant would zao. It wasn't even her money so what was there to be worried about?

Their steak was served and Annalise started to cut hers. Zayn sat quietly staring at her for a few seconds with a weird smile on his face. One really could not tell what he was thinking at that moment. Annalise looked up at him. "What is going on?" she asked him. Zayn did not say anything. He took her steak and cut it into smaller pieces before passing it over to her.

Annalise finally saw what he wanted to do. She could not help being touched.

"I'm a gentleman," he reminded her.
