Chapter 10
She couldn't help but laugh this time, and Anne assumed she meant it, so she was going to let her think that way for the time being.
"I'm at a loss for words. Please assist me in getting out of the tub."
"But..."
"All of a sudden, I feel like going out."
"Are you upset with me?"
"How am I capable of doing something like that? That will undoubtedly be beneath me."
"Then why are you getting out of the bath so early?"
"Let's just say the water went cold," she said as she stepped out of the tub and froze the water.
"Oh!" she couldn't say anything but assisted her in putting on her gown and escorted her back to her bedroom.
She rummaged through her closet until she found what she needed.
"Are you sure you want to wear that?" Anne wondered out loud.
"Yes, I'd like to feel like a kid again today. So, I'm wearing this," Violet said, looking at the white skinny jeans and vest she'd chosen from her closet, "find me some heels, will you?"
Anne was looking for heels to wear while she was putting on her clothes. She chose a pair of six-inch silver high heeled stilettos and brought them to her. She put them on, along with a few accessories, to complete her look. She wore a simple silver hair chain to keep her hair in place, a simple choker, and a watch.
"Are you not going to change?"
"I'll leave right now."
"All right, then, be quick. We have a lot of work to do."
Violet went outside to check out the new garden in front of the mansion while she waited for Anne to arrive. Looking at how the flowers were blooming reminded her of another aspect of her life: relationships. She quickly dismissed it because her car arrived at that precise moment, carrying Anne.
She helped herself and sat comfortably in the limo as it drove away. She was proud and happy with what she had accomplished over the years. She was distracted by the trees and cars when she heard Anne say that they had arrived at the mall.
This mall belonged to the Darks; the Darks were like a plague, appearing everywhere, even in unexpected places. To be honest, she couldn't recall the last time she went to a mall to shop for clothes or anything else.
The majority of these tasks were completed by Anne, who had her own personal designer whose sole responsibility was to create her clothing. She wanted to see how people were doing and how it differed from the last time she did it. They went into another boutique, and both of them seemed to recognize each other, especially Anne.
"Welcome. How can we help you today?"
"We're just taking a look around. We'll show you if we find anything."
"All right, have fun."
Violet left the talking to Anne while she wandered around looking for something to pique her interest, which she did. She came to a halt and examined the clothes; she had never worn anything like that before and wanted to give it a try.
"Mother, what did you find?" As Anne approached her, she asked.
"What do you call these things?" she asked, pointing to the shorts in front of her.
"They're more akin to bum shorts. Do you want buy them?"
"They appear to be cute and short. I'll take them, and if you want something, you can choose whatever you want."
"Thank you," she said with a smile.
"Bring me her size in white, make them three, and another two, one black and one blue my size," she said to the shop assistant.
"All right, I'll bring them to the till."
"All right, then."
Violet continued her shopping spree, purchasing a few dresses, flat shoes, a pair of heels, bags, and lingerie.
They eventually went to a jewelry store, and she was astounded by what she saw.
The man in front of her said, "you must be Violet."
"Do I know you?"
"No, you probably don't, but I do know you," he said, smiling.
She didn't want to use her powers to find out what this man knew, so she approached him and asked him.
"How?"
"You must be the only woman in this country who buys a lot of jewelry and wears it every day. When it comes to jewelry, you ushered in a new era.
"You must know a lot about me."
"I've learned enough. I only know about a couple of your sets because I made them."
"If I'm still wearing them, it means you're a fantastic craftsman, sir."
"I'm honored. So, what can I do to assist you today?"
"Make a suggestion."
"It gives me great pleasure to serve you."
The man was well-versed in his trade, which pleased her; he knew exactly what she desired. She even caught a glimpse of Anne's smile, and she knew Anne agreed with her thoughts.
She ended up spending a lot of money in that shop because of that man's sweet mouth, but it didn't matter.
She still has a lot of money in her bank accounts and other places. She chose a sapphire set that included a necklace, earrings, bracelet, and ring. Anne received a topaz necklace, a diamond set, and a ruby set. Though she despised anything red, she wouldn't deprive Anne of jewelry she couldn't take her eyes off.
The man gave them a butterfly twin bracelet pair as a thank you gift, of which she gave one to Anne and one to herself. She decided to stop at Lotus Palace for dinner because it was getting late and she was hungry. It was easy for them to get a table because they recognized her as a regular customer.
They took their order, and she excused herself from the table while they waited for their food. She went to the restroom and on her way back, she ran into someone she knew, Dylan Dark, who had been on her mind recently. She could tell he wanted to say something but was afraid to. As a result, she began it herself.
"Oh, we meet again," she said, coming to a halt in front of him and extending her hand. Dylan hesitated, but eventually shook her hand and smiled.
"Can you tell me your name?"
"Dylan. Dylan Dark."
"Oh, so you're the son of that old man. Sorry about that."
"It's all right, and you are?"
"Violet! Violet is my name."
"It's good to see you again."
"It is, indeed. We've been running into each other for the past month. If I were your age, I'd say it's fate that brought us together, but it's a small world after all."
"You never know," he explained.
"I have someone waiting for me, and I need to return."
"Are you having dinner here?"
"We are, indeed."
"Do you mind if I join you?"
"Are you going to skip dinner with your family?"
"Currently busy at the moment and I just can't stand to dine alone now that I met a familiar face."
"You are welcome to join us, and please be our guest," she said as she led him back to the restaurant.
Anne was the most taken aback when she saw her arrive with Dylan.
"What exactly is going on?"
"My name is Dylan Dark, and I'm calling to introduce myself to you. We just happened to cross paths recently, so here we are."
"Will he be dining with us?"
"Another person at the table will not cause any problems."
"My name is Anne, and it's a pleasure to meet you."
"It's also nice to meet you, Dylan."
They took another order for Dylan and enjoyed a quiet and lovely dinner together. It was refreshing to have more than two people dining together on a regular day without exchanging sarcasms or holding grudges against one another.
