Chapter 13

Lucas has made up his mind never to let any harm come near Sophie. It hurts him seeing his only true love almost got killed by drowning. "Oh, my love! I promise to always keep you safe. I promise never to leave you. Please, don't ever leave me again" Lucas said as he held hands with Sophie as they walked through the path leading to Sophie's house. Sophie was just nodding along as he spoke. Suddenly, Lucas stopped and faced Sophie. He said, "Why did you have to run away? Don't you love me? Please, I want you to open your heart to me too. Please…". Sophie looked at his pretty face, she really loved Lucas deep down, but the memories of her past life would not stop bothering her. She replied, "I'm sorry that I hurt you, I will to love you as much as I can".

Lucas smiled as they made their way into Sophie's compound. "I think I'll have to move too", he said. "Moved to where?" Sophie asked. "To your school, I can't bear it seeing you attend a different school. I'll persuade my parents to allow me".

The following day, after school hours; Sophie was on her way home when she remembered she had left one of her books in the class. "Oh jeez! How can I forget to take my book", she said, as she ran back to the class. As she entered the class, she heard a strange, growling at the end of the class. The sound was coming from one of the students who was demonstrating his beastly nature while facing the wall. Sophie immediately took her book and was about to make her way out of the class, when the wolf pounced on her. She screamed and continue to struggle with it, until a passerby came to her rescue. It was Ashley. Ashley had saved Sophie and carried her on his back as he made his way out of the school premises.

Lucas was trying to explain his reasons to his mom while he helped her out in the kitchen. Of course, he wouldn't have have said any lie than just saying the truth that he wants to transfer to another school because of Sophie. His mom went to him and said.. "Lucas! You are a king, you're the next Alpha! How do you want the rest of the pack to see you, when all you do is to keep running after a girl." She continued…. "I know you love her, but you just have to limit the way you always run after her like chicken, you've got to grow son. Moreover, what about Clara? I can see that she likes you too". "I don't know, I don't care if she likes me or not. All I care about is Sophie". His mother smiled and shook her head, as she made her way out of the kitchen. "If you you really want to transfer to that school, you have my permission boy". She shouted! Lucas jumped up with joy.

Sophie got back home feeling so week. As she entered the house, her mom saw how stressed and stumbling she looks. Her mom rushed to meet her. "Hey baby! What's going on? Why do you look so rough?". She just had to lie that she fell, and she needed some time to rest. She went straight to her room. She lie on the bed. The scene earlier the day came flashing in her eyes. How the boy wolf pounced on her, while she struggled with it. The memories of her past life came haunting her again. She remembered how Clara betrayed her, she remembered how Lucas decided to lock her up, she remembered how her parents agreed for her to be locked up.

She placed her hands on her tommy as she remembered how the doctor carried her baby out of her womb. "Who is there to be trusted?" she thought as she placed the pillow on her head and slept off.

The following day, Lucas woke up so early as he began to prepare for his new school. He was so happy that he will finally attend the same school with the love of his life. He arranged his books and he whistled along the song playing on the radio. As soon as the day became bright, he ran out of the house. He walked through the lonely path and say the puppy he saw the other day. But this time around, the mother was with it. "Oh poor child! Your mother is here now, so be fine". He said as he continued his journey to Peter Alpha's College.

The school was not really different from his previous school. He became the center of attraction when all the girls would not stop taking a second look at him.

He went straight to his classroom, seated and waiting patiently for Sophie to come in. Not long after, Ashley came into the class. "Hey yo! Are you new? I don't think have seen you before?" Lucas replied saying he just got transferred to the school. Are you sure you got transferred, or you were rusticated from your firmer school because, damn! You look like a very stubborn kid". Lucas ignored him and minded his business.

Sophie came in all surprised. "Lucas, what are you doing here?" She asked. "I told I was gonna transfer" Lucas replied. Ashley said where he was sitting… "Hmm, so it's Lucas?"

Lucas and Sophie were seen talking on the rooftop. The smile is written all over Lucas and one wouldn't need a soothsayer to tell them that they are really meant for each other. Lucas took her hands and began to carress it grinning from ear to ear. Ashley saw them from afar and became angry. He was just beginning to get close with Sophie, and this boy came out from nowhere and wanted to snatch her away from him. He kept looking at them for some time wilt so much disgust before he left.
