Chapter 14
'When I am down, he is up…he has this bubbly spirit. I told him one day, I'd become friends with someone the complete opposite of you and guess what he said?"
The guard listening rolled his eyes but almost regretted it immediately. He shouldn't let the annoying conversation get to him but what could he do? She was following him everywhere! She must have been so bored to lose her mind like this. Besides, the Matteo she talked about was…
Laurel smirked evilly. 'I won't let you be until you talk to me and if you insist on not talking to me, you'll eventually lose your mind." Not receiving any reply, she watched carefully as the guard picked up more fabrics. She followed him to the stairs leading to Boss Lucas' chambers. There was more fabric on the railings.
'He should have torn off her flesh in his bid to satisfy himself." Laurel muttered bitterly.
The guard smiled at her bitter complaints. 'You'll get used to it."
Laurel shot her head up. She didn't mean to say it out loud. 'Did I say that out loud?"
The guard paused to raise a quirk look on his face. 'You say a lot of things out loud Miss Laurel." He resumed.
Laurel scoffed to hide her embarrassment. 'What is your name?"
The guard refused to fall. He wouldn't risk telling her his name. Names were important to the crew and it was hard to give names to strangers. Who knew what she was plotting with that mischievous glint in her eyes. The guard used his trained eyes to watch her body movements. She was desperate to have someone to talk to but it wouldn't be for any reason. He needed to know what his Boss' plans are. Is she permanent? Anyone permanent deserves to know his name.
'You don't want to know." The guard finally said.
Laurel snorted. 'Why? Does your name mean something special or what? She tried again and again.
Just then, a door opened. There stood Boss Lucas in all his glory, holding a woman by her hair harshly. It was apparent what was going on. His eyes were cold. He looked like he was about to commit murder, yet calm about it.
The woman he held by her hair was in pain. A silent scream left her mouth as Boss Lucas held on tighter.
'Cecil!" Boss Lucas roared, finding him at the end of the stairs. 'Take her out."
Laurel wondered for a moment who Cecil was. She rolled her eyes when she realized who it was. So that was the name he hid from her. Thank you Boss Lucas.
Cecil's playful demeanor left him and he became stiff again. With experienced moves, he wasted no time in shoving the black bag filled with torn clothes into Laurel's hands. He collected the woman, ignoring her pleas for forgiveness.
Laurel wasn't stupid. She knew what boss Lucas meant and she wasn't going to allow that. She chose not to make a comment about his naked form and instead she stood in from of Cecil, making Boss Lucas to raise a curious eyebrow.
'You are not going to take her out. Not on my watch." She spat with venom, her head facing down.
Cecil proceeded to push Laurel out of the way but she wouldn't bulge. He looked up to his Boss for help.
Lucas folded his arms as he rested his frame on the door. He didn't care about his nakedness. He could see how uncomfortable she was. She couldn't even meet his eyes! 'And what do you think I meant by taking her out?"
Laurel raised her head bravely to meet his eyes. She knew her ears were turning red and nothing she did was able to stop that. She wouldn't let his perverseness stain her innocence.
'Don't act ignorant or talk to me like I am a child. I said she isn't going anywhere. Do you do this to every woman you sleep with? What did she do wrong?" Laurel glanced at the woman in disgust. He must have picked her from a club.
She shook her head in pity. She was sure the woman wouldn't agree if she knew who Boss Lucas was. Laurel didn't know herself yet she was kept her against her will. The woman must have seen or asked something useless. This was the little Laurel could deduce from the puzzling scenario.
Lucas wasn't in the mood for this. He had woken up to see a strange woman in his bed. He rarely brought women home but when he did, he expected them to be gone before he woke up. Not this woman though, she was sleeping soundly by his side and even had the guts to ask who Laurel is.
'Is she the one? You kept saying her name…" The woman started to talk. The woman was wise. She knew Boss Lucas was falling in love with the lady trying to save her life. She should have known something was fishy when a man named Silas asked her to take care of his friend after offering a huge amount of money.
It was when she saw the colorful art adorned with stones by the wall; she knew she wasn't going to see the next day. She had slept with the Richest and Deadliest Mafia Lord and asked stupid questions. She wasn't surprised to find him upset.
This Laurel girl standing beside her didn't know what she was into. If she was his wife, she would never have her freedom. If she was still alive, it means she is permanent. The club had ears and the woman wasn't deaf.
Lucas jerked his head to Cecil. It was like a secret code to Laurel and she didn't miss it. Cecil pushed her out of the way before she could say a word.
'Promise me she won't be killed!" Laurel pleaded loudly.
'I can't promise you such a thing. Don't forget where you are."
