Chapter 5

Alfreds POV

We walked out into the hallway.

" Alpha Alfred. Her name is Vanessa, and she is a mute."

That did not bother me. I knew that the daughters of the alpha had been cursed. That was because he pissed off the wrong witch. She looked small for her age. She must be seventeen or eighteen. That is what I am guessing.

" She is the runt of the litter."

That makes sense as to why she is so small. But what is he getting at?

" Doctor, I have no idea what you are getting at, but you need to hurry up. I need to be with my mate."

" Yes, she is the runt of the litter, and she is the alpha's daughter. He has been abusing her for a long time. She is treated worse than a slave."

Now I understand what he was getting at. She was the alpha whipping girl. Now, that will end. I will also punish him for what he has done to her. From what I saw when she was topless, her back had scars that had been healed and ones that were healing. He must have been using silver whips to punish her. But again, what has she done so terribly that she deserved that kind of treatment? I know many wolves dispose of the runt, but that was not allowed in my pack.

Runts were treated just like everyone else. If the parents did not want them, they were cast out, and the children were put in the orphanage and adopted by couples who could not have children. With the proper care, they grew into some of the strongest warriors. They were kept apart from the rest of the children so they would not be bullied. Other kids can be horrible. I was bullied because of the curse, even though I was the pack's alpha.

When they realized who I was, they would become fearful.

" How bad is her condition?"

" She will make it, but it will take time for her to heal, and if you forgive me, you need to get her away from here. She is still in danger from her father."

He sounded like he cared for the girl. I will keep that in mind. I will take him with us since he knows her condition better than anyone.

" What is your name?"

"I, Doctor Moser."

" My friends call me Benny."

" Benny, I need you to get your affairs in order here."

" You and your family will be moving to my pack."

He practically jumped up and down with joy. That told me all that I needed to know. Before I leave, I will find out who the next alpha of this pack will be because he will come into power quickly.

" Can you please summon her parents here?"

" How long will she be out?"

" At least a day. I'm going to keep her sedated."

" No one is allowed in this room except the nurses, you, myself, and my beta."

" Yes, alpha."

I then left the hospital. I went and found Chris.

" Alpha, you disappeared so fast that I did not see where you went."

" I found my fated mate. She is in the hospital."

" Is she going to be OK?"

" Yes, she is."

" I need you to find out who the next alpha of this pack is supposed to be."

" Yes, Alpha."

I then went back to the hospital. I went into her room. The sun had already come up, and she was still asleep. The doctor came in.

" I'm going to start taking her off the sedation medications."

" Sounds good to me."

I sat at the end of her bed for a while. I was still wearing a pair of shorts I had brought. All I had on was shorts, no shoes, and no shirt. I knew she would be shocked when she woke up. A half-naked man was lying at the end of her bed. But I was not going to go anywhere until she woke up. I laid back. Half of my body was hanging off the bed, and the other half was on the bed, where I rested my hand on her foot. The tingly sparks that happened when I touched her were very comforting.

It was sometime later that I felt her foot move. I almost jumped off the bed, which spooked her. That was not my intention. Great, the girl of my dreams who had been abused was already afraid of me. This was going to be a long road. I would have to win her trust. She assured me that she was OK. The nurse came in and helped me to the bathroom. Then I helped her back into bed. She was getting comfortable when her father burst into the room. Vanessa tried to climb over me. Then I could feel her pressing herself into me so hard that if she could, she would have climbed inside of me.

I ordered her father to leave. He refused. She started to cry, and I could feel her shaking. I excused myself and took her father out into the hall, where I had him arrested. The Luna of the pack was also arrested. As far as I knew, they did not have any sons. That meant that there was no heir. So he was planning on marrying Regina, the oldest to me, so that I would be the alpha of both packs. Just as he was being dragged off Chris, my beta returned,

" Alpha, there is no heir except his daughters."

" Very well."

That gave me a lot to think about. I called my pack, and Rufus answered. He was my third in command. I explained the situation to him. He would gather some more warriors and stand in alpha while I tended to my mate. He would have all the power of an alpha, but he would have to get my authorization for any major decisions. I finished my phone call and then went back into the room. After the nurse informed her of who I was, she started to panic. So the rumors have reached as far as here. That was not a good thing.

I did everything that I could to comfort her. She started to get upset about not shifting at midnight on her birthday. There was time for that. She would get a chance to shift. She probably did not shift because she was so weak. You can't shift for the first time if you are not healthy. Then, after getting her calmed down, she fell asleep. When she woke up again, she seemed OK. That was until a man walked into the room like he owned the place.

Who the hell was this man? I could tell from Vanessa's reaction that it was not good. She jumped off the bed, ripped the IV out of her arm, and ran into the bathroom, and I heard her lock the door.
