Skated Across Time

In the blink of an eye, my dreams of Olympic gold turned to dust. Betrayed, mourning a broken heart, and trying to get out from under the suffocating reminder of everything I had lost, I escaped to college, thinking I could forget. Then, my former skate partner and his new fiance just so happened to be attending the same college, but perhaps some god was looking out for me because Lukas glided right into my life. Our connection was instant, a magnetic pull I couldn't resist, and yet there was more to Lukas than I could have ever imagined.
"Tell me the truth," I said, staring at him.
"Very well." Lukas sighed and reclined back. "... the last thing I remember was skating beneath the Vind Ljoske, before I landed in Oslo last year."
"The what?"
His lips twitched. "The northern lights."
