Chapter 92 Who is he?

Isabella didn't really think she'd run into Ray. It was more like sheer stubbornness keeping her going.

Back home, she started blasting out resumes left and right, not letting any chance slip by. But she knew the odds of a company hiring a pregnant woman were slim, and she was ready for that.

After work, Elodie swung by the mental institution to check on Nathan.

Nathan was the same as always, either laughing like a goof or apologizing to a tree.

Every time Elodie saw him like that, it tore her up inside, but she felt helpless.

After chatting with the director for a bit, Elodie decided to hit the supermarket. Isabella was craving Mexican food, and Elodie was set on making it happen.

With her head down, rummaging through her bag for her membership card, Elodie accidentally bumped into someone.

Her nose stung from the impact, and she felt a flash of anger. But since she was the one who bumped into someone, she had to apologize. Swallowing her irritation, she forced a smile, "Sorry, you okay?"

"Oh, so just because it's me, you don't have to apologize? You ran into me." Daniel rubbed his chest and teased, "Your head's pretty hard."

"Why don't you watch where you're going? Seriously, I can't believe I keep bumping into you. Let's call it even." Elodie rolled her eyes.

She didn't plan on giving Daniel any more attention and headed straight into the supermarket.

But Daniel grabbed her arm and pulled her back, "Leaving already?"

"What are you doing? Trying to harass me? I'll scream." Elodie made a move like she was about to shout.

She thought Daniel would back off, but he didn't. He just looked at her, amused.

Elodie sighed and decided to give in, "Okay, my bad. I'm sorry."

"Why'd you reject my Facebook friend request?" Daniel asked.

"I don't even know you. Why would I add you on Facebook?" Elodie thought he was nuts.

"I'm Daniel Diaz. We've met before." Daniel introduced himself.

"Got it. Now let go of me." Elodie tried to shake her arm free but couldn't, which made her even more annoyed, "Are you done yet?"

"Add me on Facebook." Daniel pulled out his phone and sent her another friend request right there.

Elodie just wanted to get out of there, so she added him, "Happy now?"

"Let's keep in touch."

Elodie rolled her eyes again.

Loaded with groceries, Elodie went home and started whipping up some Mexican food for Isabella.

Isabella wanted to help but got shooed away.

Bored and waiting for dinner, Isabella's phone rang.

It was an unknown number, but she picked up anyway.

The call was from EX Corporation, asking her to come back for another interview. They also apologized for the mess during the last one.

Isabella figured Ray must've found out she got turned down.

"Hey, dinner's ready." Elodie's voice snapped Isabella out of her thoughts.

Isabella put down her phone and walked over, grinning, "Elodie, you're the best."

"It's all your favorite stuff." Elodie handed her the utensils and reminded her, "But don't overdo it."

"Got it."

"Isabella, how's the job hunt going?" Elodie asked while eating.

Isabella sighed, "I've sent out tons of resumes, but hardly any bites."

"Don't get down about it. If you can't find a job, no biggie. I'll take care of you," Elodie said, raising an eyebrow at Isabella.

Isabella reached out and ruffled Elodie's hair, smiling, "Thanks."

"Anytime."

They shared a smile, and Isabella said, "I just got a call from EX Corporation's HR. They want me to come back for another interview. I'm still debating whether to go."

"Even if you go, it's probably just for show. The result will be the same," Elodie shook her head.

She'd been through this kind of thing too many times and knew the drill.

Isabella felt the same but wasn't ready to give up without another shot, "If that's the case, then this company isn't worth it."

"So, are you going?" Elodie asked.

Isabella thought for a moment, "I want to give it a try."

"Then go. At least you won't have any regrets," Elodie said.

"That's what I think too," Isabella said, determined.

When she walked into EX Corporation again, it wasn't as busy as during her first interview. The HR department was pretty empty.

Isabella felt a twinge of regret. It was clear they had called her just to go through the motions.

Someone came over and called her into the interview room.

Everything was by the book. Even though Isabella figured she wouldn't get the job, she still answered every question seriously.

At the end, they told her to go home and wait for the news.

She knew the chances were slim.

Isabella didn't rush to leave. She decided to rest in the lobby for a bit before heading back.

By chance, she glanced out the window and saw Joshua, the president's assistant.

As Joshua got out of the car, the rear door opened, and a distinguished man stepped out. Isabella was stunned.

Afraid she was seeing things, Isabella quickly rubbed her eyes.

'No mistake. It's not an illusion. It's George,' she thought.

Isabella quickly stood up. As the man walked into the lobby, she chased after him.

Joshua saw her coming and quickly blocked her, "Miss, do you need something?"

"Who is he?" Isabella asked.

Joshua, worried Isabella might bother Ray, pushed her aside, "I've already informed our president of your request. Since you've finished your interview, please go home and wait for the news."

"No, I mean, is he George?" Isabella's heart was pounding, and her legs felt weak.

Joshua glanced back at Ray and said, "This is our president, Mr. Price, not George. Please don't cause trouble and leave."

'It can't be. There are many people who look alike, but no one looks exactly the same. Is it really him?' she thought.

"George, George," Isabella shouted.

Ray frowned and looked at her with scrutiny.

"George, you're not dead, are you? You're still alive, right? Don't you recognize me?" Isabella said, very emotional. She pushed and shoved, trying to get in front of him.

But Ray's gaze was cold and unfamiliar, making her feel scared.

"George, I'm Isabella. George," Isabella's voice was almost hoarse.

Joshua called for security, "Please escort her out."

Security came over and tried to grab Isabella, but she dodged. She ran towards Ray, not caring about anything. He still looked the same, even more cold and heroic. She wouldn't mistake him.

"George, is that really you? I thought you were dead." Isabella continued.
