Chapter 81 You're Drooling
Isabella shot a glance at George and said, "With my skills, who'd even bother coming to my art show?"
"I think your paintings are pretty good," he replied.
"You don't know the first thing about what makes a good painting or a bad one," Isabella retorted as she hit send, forwarding the finished illustration to her client.
A moment later, her phone buzzed with a payment notification.
George's eyes widened in surprise. "You made this much from one painting?"
"Just a small amount, nothing compared to you," she shrugged.
"Hey, you should always be content," George said, clearly in a good mood.
Isabella rolled her eyes. "Move over. You're crowding me."
"It's cold, so we should cuddle. Why move away?" He pulled Isabella into his arms, grinning. "I've already warmed up the bed for you."
"George, how can you be so shameless?" She tried to wriggle free, but George held her tight.
"We're a couple. Why should I be ashamed?" George pinned her down and kissed her repeatedly.
Isabella couldn't escape. "Did you come to me just for your physical needs? So many big stars are eager to sleep with you. Go find them."
George's face darkened. "Are they my wives? Isabella, are you out of your mind?"
"Did I say something wrong? Do you dare to swear you've never slept with those actresses?" Isabella glared at him, feeling like she had him all figured out.
"Do you really want to know?" George squinted at her.
"It's not about whether I want to know, but whether you want to tell."
"Yes, I have slept with them," George admitted.
"How many women have you slept with?" Isabella felt a pang in her heart, wondering why she was even asking.
"Are you sure you want to know?" he asked.
"If you don't want to say, then forget it."
Isabella turned away, but George grabbed her chin and turned her back. "Isabella, do you think it's meaningful to discuss this now? I promise, since marrying you, I've only been with you."
"I've only ever had you as my man from the beginning," Isabella said proudly, thinking he was acting like he was so faithful.
"What can I do? I didn't meet you earlier, so you can't blame me," George smiled, both wicked and carefree.
Isabella was actually captivated by his smile at that moment, showing an infatuated expression and almost drooling.
Ashamed of her embarrassing look, she covered her face.
George laughed even more. "It's okay, I know I'm good-looking."
"When did I say you were good-looking?" she said helplessly.
"You're drooling, isn't that enough?"
"Come on, George, get off me."
The next day, when Isabella went to the company, Caleb had been waiting for her for a while.
He said, "From today, you're officially the general manager of Shallow Company. If you need anything or have any questions, let me know and I'll convey them to Mr. Spencer."
Isabella looked at Caleb and asked, "Can I reappoint someone more suitable for the general manager position?"
"George specifically instructed that this company is now under your control, and you don't need to seek his opinion," Caleb said, thinking, 'It's all for you to play with, so it doesn't matter if it goes bankrupt.'
"Is George coming over today?" Isabella asked, noticing he was already gone when she woke up.
"He has important matters to deal with today, so he probably won't be coming over," Caleb replied respectfully.
"Alright then."
After Caleb left, Isabella held another meeting, promoting some of the well-performing middle managers, including Lenora.
Lenora was actually packing up to leave when she got the promotion notice. She was momentarily stunned and confused, still in a daze when Marlowe walked over.
Marlowe knocked on Lenora's desk. "Lenora."
Lenora looked up and immediately stood. "Marlowe."
Marlowe's gaze lingered on Lenora's face for a moment before she said softly, "I get how you feel right now. Isabella believes in your abilities, but you need to change how you treat people on the team."
Lenora lowered her head and stayed silent for a long time.
Marlowe continued, "You don't need to feel burdened. Isabella isn't a petty person. With her and her husband's status, she won't be nitpicking with you."
Lenora finally looked up, her eyes red. "I was planning to resign. I thought..."
"The company's development relies on senior employees. Look at me, I'm the same. When the company does well, getting a raise is just a matter of time. We're all working to make money," Marlowe said gently.
"You're right," Lenora nodded repeatedly.
"Alright, Lenora, don't look down. Isabella is calling you. You should go quickly."
Lenora put aside her packed things, calmed herself down, and then neatly knocked on the general manager's office door.
"Come in."
Lenora pushed the door open and walked in. "Is there something I can help you with?"
"Lenora, have a seat." Isabella personally poured her a cup of coffee and handed it over. "Do you have any opinions on the appointment I just announced?"
Flattered and a bit ashamed, Lenora took the coffee and said, "Thank you for your recognition. I have no objections. I will definitely do my job well."
"Of course, I believe in you. You've been with the company for a long time, and everyone can see your contributions. I hope you'll continue to be straightforward with me if you have any opinions. You know, I'm also new to this."
"I will do my best. Marlowe just talked to me about what I should do. You can watch my performance," Lenora said.
"Good."
When Marlowe came in, Lenora left.
Seeing the closed door, Marlowe chuckled. "Did you scare her?"
"Actually, she's quite capable." Isabella glanced at the new appointment list. "Do you think Zachary Jenkins can handle leading this company?"
"Zachary?" Marlowe touched her chin, thinking seriously. "He has always been held back and hasn't been able to show his potential. He comes from a sales background. If you promote him to vice general manager, I think he could significantly improve the company's performance."
"Alright, then call him in later, and I'll talk to him," Isabella ordered.
"Okay." Marlowe looked at Isabella's serious face and teased, "I must say, you look quite like an elite now."
