Chapter 53 Don't Touch Me

Isabella wasn't sure either. She was in a bad mood and just drove around aimlessly. "Maybe I got lost," she said.

"Next time, let the driver take you. Don't drive yourself," George replied.

Isabella looked at George, curious. "George, when the accident happened, I was in a bad mood. Do you know why?"

"Why?" he asked.

"Because I heard some gossip about you," she said bluntly.

George frowned. "What gossip?"

"They said you like to sleep with actresses. I even saw the promo video you did with Juniper. Your kissing skills are really something, making me blush and my heart race," Isabella said, staring at him.

Isabella thought George would feel embarrassed or interrupt her, but he didn't.

George looked back at her just as intently. "And then?"

"You love her, don't you?" Isabella asked, searching his eyes for the truth.

"What kind of answer do you want? Or do you think it's a crime that I had relationships before?"

Isabella lowered her eyes. "I didn't say that."

"Then why are you sad and in a bad mood?"

"Why?" Isabella's voice grew heavier. "Do you want the truth? The truth is, because I love you, I'm jealous. I don't want to see you kissing other women, even if it's in the past. It still makes me sad."

Isabella got emotional, tears starting to flow. She didn't feel particularly wronged; she just wanted to speak her mind.

But to George, she seemed extremely aggrieved.

"Don't cry." George reached out to wipe her tears.

Isabella turned her face away, using her bandaged hand to block him. "Don't touch me."

"Quite the temper." George pressed Isabella's shoulders, making her face him. "If I remember correctly, I said I don't love her anymore. Why care about the past? Right now, I like you."

"Just like, right?" she said.

Liking and loving are different. She wasn't a child; she could tell the difference.

"Well then, let me put it another way. I like you, and I love you. Isabella, I love you."

This was the first time George said "I love you," and the words hit Isabella's heart.

She looked at George in a daze, letting him gently kiss her lips.

Isabella's dry tongue lightly licked her lips, and he captured it.

His kisses were sometimes light, sometimes heavy, afraid of hurting her, yet not daring to use too much force. Only when he couldn't take it anymore did he let her go.

George's slender fingers gently brushed her slightly swollen lips. "Don't overthink things."

"Can you promise to only love me in the future?" Isabella pushed her luck.

George smiled slightly. "I promise. Now lie down and rest."

Isabella, satisfied, held his hand tightly. "Will you stay here with me?"

"Okay." He comforted her gently. Isabella slept soundly.

Daniel stood outside the hospital room, knocking lightly. George turned around, seeing Daniel wave at him.

Daniel was holding a report. "We have the results."

"What does it say?" George asked.

"It's complicated, but Juniper has a child that's not yours." Daniel took out a paternity test from the folder. "Do you know whose child it is?"

"Joseph's?" George guessed.

Daniel nodded. "Yes, the child is his. Did you know Juniper had twins, and one of them went missing?"

"Missing?" George was puzzled.

"Yeah, the baby was taken right after birth. The paternity test was done by Juniper on the day she gave birth. The weird part is, the twins have different fathers," Daniel explained.

George stayed silent.

"I found the birth records, and there was a note: [Twins with different fathers]. Juniper might have done paternity tests on both kids. So, whose is the child with Juniper? And the one taken away, whose is it and where did it go? Only Juniper might know," Daniel continued.

Daniel looked at George meaningfully. "Do you think that child could be yours?"

"Probably not," George said, unsure.

"How can you be so sure? You and Juniper hadn't broken up then. It's possible," Daniel urged.

George replied, "I always take precautions unless she stole my sperm."

"What if she did?" Daniel suggested.

George looked at Daniel, still unsure.

After seven days in the hospital, Isabella's bandages were removed. She recovered quickly but was still puzzled about who hit her.

'If it was Sierra, I can understand. If not, then who?' she thought.

When she saw George, she voiced her doubts. "Have you found out who hit me?"

"Still working on it," George said.

"Could it be Sierra?" Isabella asked.

"Probably not, but she didn't help you, which is unforgivable."

Isabella could understand Sierra's behavior. "She has issues with me, so it's normal not to help."

"Alright, stop thinking about it and focus on recovering," George said.

Isabella nodded. "Okay."

During Isabella's hospital stay, Daniel visited.

Unlike George, Daniel always had a smile, looking approachable.

"Daniel, do you have a girlfriend?" Isabella asked.

Daniel was intrigued. "Are you going to introduce me to someone?"

"Yes, my friend Elodie. She's beautiful and cute. I think you two would get along. Want me to introduce you?" Isabella asked eagerly.

Daniel hadn't met Elodie but knew about Nathan and Elodie's relationship.

"A beautiful and cute girl sounds nice," he said.

Isabella smiled. "So, are you interested?"

"Yes, but I'm not wealthy. You should ask if she minds," he said.

"She won't. My friend doesn't care about money."

"Then it must be fate."

Leaving the hospital room, Daniel took a deep breath. With a brother like Nathan, thinking of Elodie made him shiver.

Isabella hadn't been able to reach Elodie for a while, so she dialed her number again.

Still disconnected.

When Isabella returned to work half a month later, HR informed her she had been transferred to the design department.
