Chapter 36 That Was a Failed Attempt at Stealing a Kiss

Isabella, looking confused, walked up to George. He grabbed her wrist, pulled her close, and kissed her gently. "Is this fun for you?" he asked.

Isabella blushed and looked away, trying to push him off, but he pinned her down.

"George, what are you doing?" she stammered, embarrassed.

"Just doing what couples do. Remember when you tried to kiss me while I was unconscious? Why so shy now?"

Isabella's face turned even redder. "I didn't steal a kiss. It was a failed attempt."

"But you wanted to," he replied.

'Alright, I admit it,' she thought. That night, George was so gentle, whispering sweet things, and everything just felt right. From that night on, I started feeling like his wife, but I know it was just George doing his duty. The woman in his heart isn't me.'

In the morning, George woke up and couldn't resist kissing Isabella's bare shoulder. Last night, he felt a strong desire for her. Her shyness and blushing made him want her even more. No woman had ever made him feel this way, to the point where he didn't even want to go to work.

George took a deep breath, a smile forming on his lips. When he came downstairs looking refreshed, John started setting up breakfast.

"Mr. Spencer, this is a nutritious soup Mrs. Patricia Spencer arranged for you. You must drink it. And here's some air-shipped milk."

George sat at the table, looking at the lavish breakfast. "Does Isabella usually have such a big breakfast?" he asked.

"Mrs. Isabella Spencer prefers light food, usually just toast and milk," John replied.

"John, put in more effort. From now on, prepare a more lavish breakfast for her too. She's been quite tired lately."

John nodded. "Don't worry, Mrs. Patricia Spencer specifically instructed that Mrs. Isabella Spencer is pregnant, so nutrition must be kept up. I've got it all prepared."

"Even if she's not pregnant, she needs good nutrition," George said.

"Yes, sir," John responded. Seeing that George had almost finished eating, he asked, "It's the weekend today. Are you still going to the company?"

"Yes."

"Mrs. Patricia Spencer asked about Trevor's birthday banquet tomorrow. Are you and Mrs. Isabella Spencer going? If not, Mrs. Patricia Spencer can explain."

George wiped his mouth with a napkin. "Our family is close with the Neville family, and Isabella has a special relationship with Trevor's family. Not going would be disrespectful. Tell Patricia that Isabella and I will be there, so she doesn't need to worry."

"Understood."

After waking up, Isabella stayed in bed, texting Elodie. When she learned that Nathan would also be at Trevor's birthday banquet, her feelings got complicated.

[Isabella, just found out we got rich distant fam. Brenda totally kept it on the DL. When you meet Nathan, don't be nervous.]

Isabella texted back, [Can't you go instead?]

Elodie replied instantly, [Nathan insists on going. For such distant relatives, one person offering congratulations is enough.]

Isabella: [Yeah, it's really boring.]

Elodie: [You don't want to go either?]

Isabella replied, [Of course I don't want to go, but it seems unavoidable.]

Elodie: [This is a great opportunity, and I heard they've invited a lot of celebrities.]

Isabella knew it was a perfect chance to reveal her identity to the public, but it still felt strange.

Trevor's birthday banquet was at the Stellar Hotel, with eighty-eight tables set up. Reporters crowded the entrance early on.

As night fell, guests arrived as scheduled. The flashlights were dazzling, more brilliant than the stars.

George's car slowly stopped. The doorman, in a neatly pressed black tailcoat and white gloves, opened the door with utmost politeness. George's long legs were the first to step out, and the flashlights went wild. As he got out, he buttoned his suit and extended his hand towards the car door. A smooth, delicate hand met his. Isabella wore a smoke-blue hand-embroidered tulle dress, with an off-shoulder design and a dazzling diamond necklace, highlighting her status as George's wife.

Today's dress was personally chosen by George. The style and color were youthful and playful, with the hem gently falling to her knees, revealing a bit of her calf, fresh and charming. Her elegant makeup and enchanting smile completed the look.

She gently took George's arm and walked up the steps. George was now the biggest gossip in Stellar City.

'It is said that ten months ago, he was severely injured and fell into a coma, becoming a vegetative state, but after marrying Isabella, he miraculously woke up. Word is, Isabella's drop-dead gorgeous, way prettier than any celeb in Stellar City.'

The TV host responsible for the live broadcast outside saw George and Isabella and couldn't wait to start an interview. Holding the microphone, he eagerly began, "Mr. Spencer, please say hello to everyone."

George nodded slightly, not intending to stay long.

The host quickly stepped forward to block him, "Mr. Spencer, who is this beside you?"

"My wife," he said, glancing down at Isabella.

The flashlights went even crazier, capturing this classic moment.

Isabella felt it was unnecessary to be so deliberate, but it seemed appropriate.

"This is the legendary Mrs. Spencer. Mrs. Spencer, you are so young and beautiful. Mr. Spencer, it's said that you and Juniper were a couple before. Did you break up because you married your current wife?"

This was a taboo for George, especially with Isabella present. 'The host dares to ask about my ex-girlfriend's breakup in front of Isabella?' His face darkened.

While the host waited for George's answer, the reporters were in another uproar. Juniper, dressed in a black deep V high-end trailing dress, slowly got out of the car. Her tall and sexy figure quickly attracted all the cameras.

Behind Juniper was a man who made Isabella's palms sweat.
