Chapter 31 A Restless Woman

"I wouldn't have known you were on a date with a guy if I hadn't come. Isabella, how could you? You've disgraced the Spencer family," Patricia snapped.

Isabella was shocked.

Thalia, nearby, chimed in, "A restless woman is always restless. Out meeting a man late at night, laughing and flirting, how charming."

"I didn't. This is my friend. You've got it wrong," Isabella tried to explain.

But no one listened, especially Patricia. Hearing Isabella still trying to explain, Patricia got even angrier. "I trusted you so much, loved you so much, and you have no shame."

Patricia stormed off.

"You really misunderstood," Isabella said, feeling wronged.

Thalia stepped closer, sneering. "Is George not good enough? Or has the Spencer family treated you so well that you forget who you are?"

"Don't slander us. Isabella and I are innocent. We were just working together. What gives you the right to say that?" Colin couldn't hold back and argued with Thalia.

Thalia wasn't about to miss a chance to mock, and her words got nastier. "Isabella takes George's money to support you, and you two have an affair with such audacity. Have you no shame?"

"You!" Isabella said, pulling Colin back to stop him from arguing. "Thalia, we just met today. I don't blame you for judging me, but please have some self-respect."

"Stop pretending to be noble. Save your explanations for George," Thalia said.

After Thalia left, Isabella sighed deeply, making Colin feel guilty. "I'm sorry for causing your family to misunderstand. It's all my fault."

Isabella took off her protective sleeves and gear. "It's not your fault. Even without you, they would have misunderstood me with another man. They are set in their beliefs, and nothing can change that."

Colin, feeling bad for Isabella, suggested, "Isabella, how about I go explain to your husband?"

"If he trusts me, no words are needed. If he doesn't, nothing I say will matter. You should go home. We'll finish our work tomorrow," Isabella said.

"Isabella, let me drive you home. I came by car," Colin offered.

"Alright."

The pure white Bentley, elegant and grand, surprised Isabella. 'Seems Colin is genuinely wealthy, not just pretending.'

"It seems Elodie still misunderstands you," Isabella said.

Colin felt a bit embarrassed. "Actually, being an ordinary person is quite nice. This car is a bit too flashy. I'm planning to buy a cheaper one."

"It's rare to find a wealthy person who doesn't show off," she said sincerely.

Colin blushed at the compliment. "There's nothing to show off."

When they arrived at Spencer Manor, Colin suddenly realized, "Isabella, is George your husband?"

Isabella felt a bit awkward. "Yes, he is."

"Then such a capable man will surely not misunderstand you. Isabella, explain to him, and he will believe you," Colin said confidently.

Isabella smiled bitterly. 'How could Colin, who has never met George, be so confident?'

"Alright, you should head home. Be careful on the road," she said.

"Goodbye, Isabella."

As Colin's car drove away, Isabella took a deep breath and walked towards Spencer Manor.

When she reached the path by the lawn, she noticed the parking spot.

'George is back. If Thalia has exaggerated the situation, George might be furious when he sees me. Let him be angry. There's no emotional foundation anyway. It would be hard for George to believe me,' she thought.

Isabella walked heavily into the hall, which was full of people, giving the impression of a trial. Even Debra, who rarely showed up, looked displeased.

Isabella glanced at George. His expression was relatively calm.

"Patricia, Debra," she greeted. As long as she was a member of the Spencer family, she had to maintain proper manners.

"Isabella, the Spencer family has treated you well. How could you do such a disgraceful thing? How could you betray me and George?" Patricia said, heartbroken.

Isabella lowered her head. 'It's not that I don't want to explain, but is there any point now? You've already decided I'm immoral. Any explanation would be seen as an excuse,' she thought.

"Isabella, why aren't you saying anything? You dared to meet a man in secret," Thalia said, leaning towards George. "George, this woman met a man behind your back. You should deal with her."

George looked up at Isabella, who had her head down without saying a word, while Thalia was being utterly disrespectful.

"Did you catch them in bed?" George asked.

Thalia was stunned. "What do you mean? Tonight, she was laughing and talking with a man at the school. That was clearly a rendezvous. Do you need to catch them in bed?"

"Don't you have classmates? Or male friends? By your logic, talking to a man is flirting, right?" George asked logically.

Thalia, feeling rebuked, was not convinced. "George, why are you defending Isabella? She's cheating on you, and you're being foolish."

"How can you talk to George like that, Thalia? You're getting more and more out of line," Patricia said sternly, her expression authoritative.

Thalia didn't dare to be too brazen but still wouldn't let it go. "Look at Isabella. She clearly feels guilty. I'm just worried about George being cheated on. I'm doing it for his good."

Isabella hadn't wanted to explain anything, but Thalia's relentless attitude, so reminiscent of Sierra's, inexplicably ignited her fighting spirit. She said, "Thalia, which eye of yours saw me cheating? You make it sound like your family is so easily to fool. I should be grateful I'm not being cheated on."

Isabella turned her gaze to Patricia, continuing, "Patricia, you should have known what kind of person I was before bringing me into the Spencer family. If I had a lover, would you have let me in? You said I disappointed you, but you disappoint me. Just because I'm from the countryside doesn't mean I'm living some wild life. Don't judge others by your own standards."
