Chapter 22 Either Accept the Apology or Forget About the Money

"You hurt?" he asked again.

Isabella shook her head, confused. "No."

"Good," George said, turning off the light.

In the dark, Isabella wondered if she should explain why she hit someone. Now that she was George's wife, causing trouble could bring problems to the Spencer family, which wouldn't be good for her.

"George," she said.

"Hmm?" George replied.

"I hit her because of you," Isabella said confidently. "Sierra called you a bald old man, so I hit her."

"Bald old man?" George was silent.

Isabella continued, "Even if you're old, you're not bald. She deserved it. I was defending you."

George laughed as he thought, 'Old man? I'm only seven years older than her.'

"Well, if there's nothing else, let's get some sleep. I'm tired," Isabella yawned.

The first night passed without incident.

But at breakfast, Patricia's eyes kept darting between Isabella and George. Isabella's head was almost buried in her bowl.

"George, did you sleep well last night?" Patricia asked, hinting at something.

George ignored her. "Pretty well."

"Isabella, did you sleep well?" Patricia asked again.

Isabella didn't look up. "Just fine."

Patricia nodded, satisfied. "That's good. Even though George just woke up, he seems in good shape. Isabella, don't feel sorry for him. Let him do what he needs to do."

Isabella stayed silent. 'Does she have to be so explicit?'

After breakfast, Isabella got a call from the principal's office. Sierra's mom was causing a scene and demanding an explanation. She was told to go there immediately.

Isabella sighed. 'Being impulsive can really mess things up.'

"John, take me to school."

John was about to agree when George walked over and took the car keys. "Let's go, I'll take you."

"No, John can take me. You're busy. I don't want to bother you."

George glanced at her. "Today, I'm busy with your matter."

'Oh right, Principal Owen called him yesterday. Owen must want George to handle this. What a headache,' she thought.

Isabella's face wrinkled up.

'George just woke up from a coma, and now he has to deal with my mess. If it were me, I wouldn't like such a person either,' she thought.

The luxurious black car slowly drove into Stellar University, attracting many students' attention.

Isabella covered her face, afraid her classmates would recognize her.

'When John drove me, I didn't let him drive in, and there were rumors I was being kept by a sugar daddy. Who knows what George is thinking?' she wondered.

The car stopped in front of the office building.

George got out and slammed the door shut.

Isabella, like a child who had done something wrong, followed closely behind him.

He walked ahead, his tall figure almost blocking all the light. When they were almost at the principal's office, she called out to George and said, "I'm sorry for causing trouble. I'll change the number so it won't happen again. Can you not badmouth me to Owen?"

Isabella didn't expect George to praise her, but as long as he didn't trash-talk her, she figured Principal Owen would still give her a chance.

George just gave her a cold look.

As they entered the principal's office, they heard Sierra's mom, Anouk, yelling at Owen, "What kind of school is this? My daughter got beaten up for no reason. She has a concussion and is still in the hospital. What are you going to do about it?"

Owen was sweating, trying to calm her down. "Don't worry, we'll handle this seriously."

"Handle it seriously? How? If you don't compensate me with $500,000, this won't end," Anouk demanded, pounding the table.

Owen's assistant saw George and Isabella walk in and quickly waved them over, whispering to Owen.

Owen looked up at them as he thought, 'Isabella, my student. And... wait, is that George? Isabella's emergency contact is George? But that's not the name she gave before,' he thought.

George was a major shareholder of Stellar University.

Owen's forehead was sweating even more. "Mr. Spencer, why are you here?"

Hearing Owen, Anouk quickly approached George and Isabella. "Are you Isabella?"

Intimidated by the short, stout woman's aggressive demeanor, Isabella instinctively hid behind George, making Anouk even angrier.

"Isabella, Sierra is still in the hospital. Don't think bringing a man here will scare me. If you don't give me a satisfactory solution, I won't let this go," Anouk said aggressively.

Owen tried to calm things down. "The school will take full responsibility for this. Sierra just needs to rest in the hospital for now."

"Fine, you must compensate. If you don't, then Isabella has to drop out. Choose one," Anouk demanded.

Hearing she might have to drop out, Isabella protested, "Why should I drop out? Sierra provoked me. You can't control her, and now you're causing a scene here. What kind of logic is that?"

"If she provoked you, why didn't she knock you out? Isabella, you're just a young girl, not worth arguing with. But Sierra is seriously injured and might have severe aftereffects. She's only twenty. You've ruined her life," Anouk wailed loudly.

Owen glanced at George, who hadn't said anything, and nervously approached him. "Mr. Spencer, how do you think we should handle this? Should we just compensate her?"

Hearing about compensation, Isabella immediately clutched her pockets. "We can't just give her money because she wants it."

"If we don't compensate, do you want to drop out?" George asked lowly.

'I don't want to drop out. I can apologize, but I can't pay,' Isabella thought.

"I'll apologize," she said.

"Who cares about your apology," Anouk scoffed.

"I don't have any money. How can I compensate you?" Isabella's attitude was clear: either accept the apology or forget about the money.

This angered Anouk even more. She stood up and reached out to grab Isabella, but Isabella quickly hid behind George.
