Chapter 17 Will He Like Me?

"I think he'll like you," Daniel said.

"You sound unsure, so he probably doesn't like me," Isabella pouted. "If he doesn't, we'll just get a divorce."

Daniel looked confused.

When Isabella saw Elodie, she started venting.

Elodie laughed while sipping her drink.

"What's so funny?" Isabella asked.

"Isabella, don't tell me you've fallen for that guy in a coma?"

Isabella blushed. 'How could I fall for a man who’s never spoken to me? No way.'

"I don't like him. I've just taken care of him for so long, and it feels unfair."

Elodie put her arm around Isabella and asked, pretending to be serious, "You really don't like him?"

"He's lying there, can't say a word. How could I like him?" Isabella's face turned even redder.

"If you don't like him, then no need to be mad. A new restaurant opened nearby, and it's great. My treat," Elodie said.

"Then I'll order the deluxe meal," Isabella said.

"No problem."

After a day out, Isabella came home and saw George, her anger flaring up as she remembered Daniel's words.

"George, do you have any conscience? I've taken care of you for almost six months, feeding you and everything. What did I do wrong that you want a divorce? If I knew you were so heartless, I would've cheated on you first. What's wrong with me? I'm pretty, and while my figure isn't hot, it's decent. Why don't you like me? Have you looked at yourself? Besides being rich, handsome, and having a sexy body, what's so great about you? Let me tell you, many people are after me. If you divorce me, I can get married again the next day. Do you believe that?"

Still not satisfied, Isabella pinched George's arm hard.

"George, remember, I'm your savior. You should repay me and not be ungrateful."

Isabella rubbed George's face a few times, licked her dry lips, and slowly moved closer to his lips. Just as she was about to touch them, she felt disgusted by her own behavior.

Isabella thought, 'Isabella, you actually want to kiss this man. That's enough.'

Muttering to herself that she couldn't kiss him, Isabella finally defined her actions as revenge.

'Yes, it's revenge.'

Before bed, Patricia called Isabella over.

"Patricia, what do you need?" Isabella asked.

Patricia took her hand, looking at her gently, with both affection and curiosity in her eyes. "Isabella, I called you here to tell you two things."

"Patricia, go ahead."

"Your brother's treatment abroad has been arranged. He can be flown out in two days."

Isabella's heart leaped with joy. "Thank you, Patricia."

This was the most important thing to Isabella.

"The doctors there have a lot of experience treating autism. I'm confident he will recover," Patricia added.

Isabella looked up at Patricia, waiting for her to say the second thing.

"And about your mom's house, I've already arranged the paperwork. It should be transferred by next week."

'Patricia handles these two huge tasks for me with ease, all thanks to money. If I hadn't agreed to her terms, there’s no way I could've pulled these off,' Isabella thought.

"Thank you, Patricia."

"Isabella, George will wake up soon. I hope that when he does, you two will get along well. You're so sensible. He will definitely like you," Patricia said.

'Whether he likes me or not, I only know I don't have the right to ask for a divorce,' Isabella thought.

"I promised I'd take good care of George, and I will."

Patricia nodded, satisfied. "I believe you."

Isabella hesitated. "Patricia, can I see my brother before he leaves for treatment?"

"Of course, no problem. Who knows when he'll be back? It's only natural to see him." Patricia was clearly more reasonable than Lucas.

Isabella looked at Patricia gratefully. "Thank you."

"Isabella, your family is my family too. I'll do everything I can to make sure you have no worries." Patricia's words made Isabella feel a mix of emotions, as if she hadn't felt such care and warmth from another mother since Hazel left.

Whether Patricia was sincere or not, at this moment, Isabella felt a warm current in her heart.

Stellar Mental Health Center.

Isabella saw Oliver, whom she hadn't seen in years. He had grown taller and much thinner. His skin was pale, probably from not getting much sun, making him look frail.

"Oliver," she called.

Oliver looked up at Isabella for several seconds before lowering his head again to continue drawing.

Isabella's nose tingled. 'Does Oliver not recognize me anymore?'

"Oliver, I'm Isabella." She cautiously walked towards him, but Oliver, startled, began to scream. His emotions were out of control as the medical staff signaled Isabella to step back.

Isabella hurriedly took a few steps back and said gently, "Don't be nervous. I'll step back, okay?"

Oliver's condition was not good. The doctor said he was especially afraid of strangers and had aggressive behavior. A few days ago, when Lucas visited him, Oliver had thrown things at him.

Seeing Oliver's worsening condition, Isabella felt a pang of heartache and sorrow.

When he was younger, Oliver's autism was relatively mild. He could communicate normally, talk, and even help others.

But after Hazel left and Isabella was sent to the countryside, five-year-old Oliver was sent into a rehabilitation center, spending day and night with strangers and disinfectant, causing his condition to deteriorate.

A few years ago, when Isabella saw him, Oliver could still recognize her. But now, he didn't recognize her at all.

Treatment was urgent.

Isabella was quite grateful to Patricia. The hospital she found for Oliver was one of the top rehabilitation centers in the world.

The Spencer family had been so good to her that she decided to go back today and focus on treating George, hoping he would wake up soon.

Back at The Spencer Manor, Isabella made sure to lock the bedroom door. This time, she wanted to treat George quietly.

Isabella was very attentive and said, "George, you're really lucky to marry me in this lifetime. I am skillful, beautiful, well-mannered, and graceful. Men go crazy for me, and women are envious. I've even fallen for myself—I'm like an angel on earth. It's so enviable."

At that moment, George's fingertip moved, and Isabella froze.

'Is he about to wake up?' she thought.

"George, did you move? Did I see that right? Can you hear me? If you can, move your finger."

Sure enough, George's finger moved again.

This shocked Isabella. 'George is really waking up. I needed to do something drastic.'

So, Isabella picked the thickest silver needle and pricked George's soles with it.

George let out a muffled groan.

Listening to this, Isabella quickly ran out and shouted, "John, John!"

John hurried over. "What's wrong?"

"Hurry up, get Daniel. George is waking up," Isabella said excitedly.

John didn't know if it was true, but seeing Isabella in a panic, he also became anxious.
