Chapter 108 I Have Regained My Memory
"Can I come in?" he asked.
Isabella was caught off guard for a second but then stepped aside, "Sure, come on in."
George took a quick look around the room and spotted Lisa holding Frederick. He fought the urge to grab Frederick and turned his attention back to Isabella.
Isabella waited for him to say something. After a moment, he asked, "You doing okay?"
"I'm fine. Did you need something?" Isabella thought about the recent drama with EX Corporation and added, "I heard about the issues with EX Corporation. If you need help, I'm sorry, but I can't do anything."
"No," George replied.
Isabella was puzzled, "Then why are you here?"
"To see you," he said.
'See me?' she thought.
"Ray, I don't get what you mean."
"Isabella, I..." He looked at her and took a deep breath, "I remember..."
Before George could finish, Frederick started crying. Isabella quickly got up and asked gently, "What's wrong?"
"He got scared when a little fish nibbled his finger," Lisa said, wiping Frederick's hand with a towel.
Isabella finally relaxed and said, "Frederick, you're a boy. You can't cry so much. The little fish was just playing with you. Look."
"He's just a baby. He'll grow out of it," Lisa said and took Frederick to the other room. Isabella returned to the living room and said, "Sorry, what were you saying?"
"Do you still hold a grudge against me?" George asked.
Isabella hadn't forgotten the grievances she suffered at EX Corporation, so she said, "Does holding a grudge help? You already fired me. I don't even have a chance to get revenge."
"I'm sorry," George said.
Isabella was speechless for a moment.
'Why is he suddenly apologizing? Wasn't he always so arrogant?' she thought.
"No need."
"Um..." George hesitated.
Isabella said, "If you have something to say, just say it."
"It's actually nothing," he said.
'Nothing? Then why did you come to my house?' she thought.
"Ray, if you really have nothing to say, you should go back." Isabella directly showed him the door.
George didn't want to be kicked out and said nervously, "I do have something."
"If you have something to say, just say it," Isabella was getting annoyed.
Summoning great courage, George finally spoke, "Isabella, I regained my memory."
Isabella was stunned as she thought, 'What did he say? He remembers? He remembers everything? So, he came here to reunite with me?'
"What do you remember?" she asked.
"Everything. That's why I came to find you," George said as he looked at her, not daring to blink, while Isabella lowered her eyes.
She hadn't expected him to remember, or more accurately, she hadn't expected George to remember so quickly.
For a moment, Isabella was at a loss.
George gently held her hand and said, "I'm really sorry."
Isabella calmly withdrew her hand from his grasp, "No, it can't be like this. George, I'm very confused. I don't know, I really..."
"Isabella, I'm still me, and you're still you. Nothing has changed. We are still us," George said.
'Nothing has changed? What about him and Susan? Why doesn't he mention it? What happened between them? How far does it go? Isn't she already pregnant? How can nothing have changed?' she thought.
"George, you should go. I need some time to think. I'm really confused right now."
"Isabella..." Geroge wanted to say more, but Isabella grabbed his arm and shoved him out.
'Why does he suddenly remember? I don't get it. What happened to George over the past year? How does he suddenly regain his memory?' Isabella was buffled.
Lisa came out of the room and asked, "Is he gone?"
Isabella nodded.
"Actually, I overheard some of your conversation. What are you worried about? Isn't it a good thing that he regained his memory?" Lisa said.
Isabella sighed, "During his amnesia, he had a girlfriend. I heard she's pregnant. The news yesterday said she was released on bail because of her pregnancy. How can I start over with him?"
"Really? That's tough." Lisa shook her head.
"Lisa, my mind is a mess right now," Isabella said, looking pained.
Lisa gently hugged her and comforted, "If you can't figure it out, leave it to time. Maybe time will give you the answer."
"Okay."
During the days Isabella didn't look for George, he didn't bother her either.
Nicholas's case was basically settled, but Susan was released on bail because of her pregnancy. George was worried that Susan might do something desperate, so he kept an eye on her.
Susan insisted that the baby she was carrying was George's, and George didn't refute it.
Susan wanted to keep the baby, and George didn't object.
One autumn afternoon, Isabella was at the hospital with a feverish Frederick. As she passed the obstetrics department, she accidentally saw the heavily pregnant Susan. The man beside her was George.
Isabella's heart was torn.
'It seems Susan is about to give birth. So, the baby is indeed George's,' she thought.
Disappointment filled her heart. Frederick, with his flushed cheeks, was sleeping in her arms.
Isabella wanted to cry but felt it wasn't worth it.
She swallowed her tears and vowed never to see George again.
Susan was indeed about to give birth.
George helped her book a room and find a doctor.
Although Susan resented George for putting Nicholas in jail, she felt quite happy that George was personally taking care of her and the baby.
After scheduling the C-section, Susan was wheeled into the delivery room.
The delivery went smoothly, but when the baby was born, the doctor and nurses were stunned.
When the baby was handed to George, he looked at the baby and suddenly laughed.
Susan, weak from the C-section, wanted to see her baby and said, "Ray, bring the baby over. I want to see."
George looked at the baby in his arms and slowly walked to Susan, looking down at her.
"Are you sure?" he asked.
"Of course, that's our baby. I want to see."
George handed the baby to Susan. When she saw the baby, she screamed, "It's impossible! This isn't my baby!"
The baby, startled, began to cry.
Susan pushed the baby away in disgust, refusing to believe it was hers.
"Susan, this is your baby. This is the result of your actions. You thought drugging me meant I was the man that night? With the lights off, any man could be your lover," George said.
Susan was stunned.
George coldly laughed, "You know that Black guy, Tom, the one you can't stand? He was the man that night. So, this is your and Tom's baby."
