Chapter 103 Good at Stealing Men and Acting
"You've got some nerve. No one's dared to hit me since I was a kid. Isabella, you're done for."
Susan wasn't the type to just let things slide. She grabbed her phone and started calling people.
Isabella wasn't dumb either. She wasn't about to stick around and wait for Susan to bring a mob. She slipped back to the office.
She figured Susan wouldn't follow her there.
But Susan, despite being beautiful and from a good family, wasn't exactly a genius.
She stormed into the office with a crew, not caring about her image, dead set on dealing with Isabella.
Isabella, pregnant and not wanting a direct confrontation, had to rely on Ray's connection with Susan to protect herself.
When Ray showed up with a dark expression, Susan had to dial back her attitude.
"What do you think you're doing?" Ray's face was grim as he looked at the employees gathered around, his eyes blazing with anger. "Are you here for the show?"
Joshua dispersed the crowd, and everyone went back to their departments.
Susan was already feeling wronged because the marriage wasn't finalized, and on top of that, she'd heard all sorts of rumors about Ray and Isabella, which had her all worked up.
So she was determined to deal with Isabella no matter what.
"Bring Isabella out. I want to settle things with her alone," Susan shouted.
"What do you need to settle with her?" Ray asked.
"What else? It's about her seducing you. Did you two sleep together?" Susan asked tearfully, feeling wronged.
"Nonsense." Ray turned and walked towards the CEO's office.
Susan, most afraid of him being angry, took small steps to catch up. "Ray, is it true or not?"
"Susan, you're not only insulting Isabella but me," Ray said angrily.
"Ray, I don't mean to insult you. I've seen too many women like Isabella. She just wants to find a father for her baby, and since you have money, power, and status, she wants to use you. She's a despicable person, and I need to teach her a lesson," Susan said.
Isabella, hiding in the next office, heard every word clearly. Although she was very angry, she knew she couldn't act impulsively.
Joshua walked in and closed the door, asking, "What's going on? How did you provoke Susan?"
Isabella pouted. "Susan insists on believing those rumors, saying I have an affair with Ray. She's bringing trouble on herself; it has nothing to do with me."
"Susan is not someone to mess with," Joshua said worriedly.
Isabella knew that too, but it wasn't her fault. "I'll avoid her in the future."
"It's not that simple." Joshua sighed and left.
When it was time to get off work, the argument next door was still ongoing. Isabella, holding her bag, tried to slip away unnoticed.
Just as she reached the CEO's office door, it suddenly opened, and Isabella and Susan's eyes met unexpectedly.
Isabella was about to slip away when Susan grabbed her arm and said, "So, Isabella, you were hiding from me."
Susan, full of anger, didn't hold back. She yanked Isabella around, not caring about anything, and Isabella's belly hit a nearby table.
Isabella let out a muffled groan of pain, followed by a sharp, intense pain in her belly where she had been struck.
She clutched her belly in pain and slowly sank to the ground.
"Isabella, stop pretending. You're such a good actress. Not only do you steal men, but you also put on a show," Susan snorted.
Hearing the commotion, Ray came out of the CEO's office, seeing Isabella in pain and the blood beneath her.
Without a word, Ray scooped up Isabella and started walking out, barking orders, "Joshua, call an ambulance, now."
Susan yelled after them, "You poor people are so pathetic, always using the baby card. I'm not buying it."
No one paid any attention to Susan's ranting.
Isabella clutched her lower abdomen, the pain feeling like something was being ripped from her body.
'No, it can't be. Baby, don't leave me,' Isabella thought.
Blood dripped from beneath her, soaking her dress and staining Ray's clothes.
Under the surgical lights, she didn't know if God would take her child away. Her consciousness grew weak and gradually faded.
The two men standing outside the operating room were silent.
Ray couldn't escape the responsibility for the harm Isabella had suffered.
He felt incredibly guilty and prayed that her child would be okay.
For some reason, his heart felt very uncomfortable, and he had to take deep breaths.
"Mr. Price, are you okay?" Joshua noticed his discomfort and asked.
"My heart doesn't feel right," Ray said, wincing in pain.
"I'll get a doctor." Joshua was about to leave when Ray called him back. "It's not that serious."
"Better let a doctor take a look."
Ray waved his hand, thinking, 'It's strange; whenever something happens to Isabella, my body feels off. Could it be that she really is my...'
The surgery took a long time. When the doctor finally came out and said Isabella's child was saved, both men breathed a sigh of relief.
"Joshua, when Isabella is discharged, arrange for her to resign," Ray said.
Joshua was momentarily stunned, explaining, "But it wasn't her fault."
"It's for her own good," Ray insisted.
Joshua understood.
After giving some instructions, Ray left the hospital.
His car sped down the wide road.
In Rexonia, the Miller family had many properties, and Susan owned a house in almost every city, living a life of debauchery.
She liked to throw parties, whether she was in a good mood or not.
The car screeched to a halt at the gate of Susan's villa.
Even through three layers of soundproof glass, Ray could clearly hear the heavy metal music from inside the villa.
After entering the password, Ray stepped into the yard, which was filled with whistles, screams, and all sorts of unpleasant sounds.
The door opened.
There were a few dim lights on, and the air was thick with the smell of perfume, smoke, alcohol, and other indescribable odors.
The men and women inside hadn't noticed Ray, lost in their excitement.
Ray glanced at the table and saw drug paraphernalia. He smirked; like father, like daughter, neither was any good.
Ray pressed the main switch, and the lights in the room instantly came on. The group was startled, and the noise stopped abruptly.
Susan, holding a wine glass, looked over with drunken eyes. It took her a while to recognize him, and she said, "Ray, why are you here?"
Ray didn't speak, just looked at her coldly. The others, sensing the situation, looked at Susan, who waved her hand, and they all left dejectedly.
Susan thought he was there to apologize and coquettishly hugged Ray's arm, her tone softening. "Alright, I'm not mad at you anymore."
Ray pulled his arm away and looked at her coldly, saying, "Susan, you're smart. Whether you're dropping company rumors to get at me or you just can't stand Isabella and want to deal with her, none of that matters. You know where my bottom line is."
