Chapter 100 He Become Someone Else's Son-in-Law
"You trying to help is just making it worse. I don't need it. Call Joshua, now!" Ray shouted.
"Oh," Isabella replied coldly, thinking, 'Why is he yelling?'
When Isabella called Joshua, he had just landed. Hearing Ray was hurt made his heart skip a beat.
"What happened?" Joshua asked.
"An accident," Isabella said flatly.
"Of course. I knew something would go wrong with you two... Never mind, I just got off the plane. I'll be at the hospital soon."
No wonder Joshua had a bad feeling, even with food poisoning.
Sure enough, something happened.
When Joshua got to the hospital room, he saw Ray lying there and Isabella looking lost.
"Mr. Price, how are you feeling?" Joshua asked.
"You're here," Ray said.
"Yeah."
Ray pointed at Isabella. "Let her go back. You stay and take care of me."
"I don't want to leave," Isabella mumbled.
Joshua walked over to her. "You should listen to Mr. Price. You're pregnant and can't take care of anyone. You're making us worry."
"But this happened because of me. I can't just leave," Isabella insisted.
"You're not in a good position to help," Joshua said gently, hoping she'd get the hint.
Isabella got it. "Fine."
Just then, a nurse came in with medication. "Time to change the dressing."
As the gauze on Ray's back was peeled off, Isabella noticed old gunshot wounds besides the burn marks.
She looked closer. Yep, definitely gunshot wounds, entering from the side of the lower back.
"Mr. Price, is that a gunshot wound on your lower back?" she asked.
Ray was taken aback. The wound was indeed from a gunshot, but he had no memory of how he got it. He'd lost a lot of his memory.
He looked at Isabella warily. "How do you know?"
"I guessed," she said.
'So, it really is a gunshot wound. This confirms he's George. But why doesn't he recognize me? Does he really have amnesia? If he never remembers me, then the baby and I will be alone forever. Why should he become someone else's son-in-law while we stay lonely? No way.' Isabella thought, feeling a surge of anger.
She was sent back to the company.
Lately, there were more and more rumors about Ray and Susan. Everywhere she went, she heard colleagues gossiping.
"I heard Nicholas's birthday is coming up. He's planning to announce Ray and Susan's engagement at the party. Ray's still on a business trip. Will he make it back in time?"
"You're worrying too much. Ray knows how important this is. He'll be back."
"I heard Susan is already decorating their wedding house. Maybe they'll get married right after the engagement since she's already pregnant."
"Really? Is Susan pregnant? I can't tell."
"Susan is so thin. How could you tell?"
These conversations made Isabella feel even worse.
She walked out of the break room and went back to her seat.
After work, Isabella got a call from Joshua. He said he was going to Pariz with Ray and would probably be back after the engagement.
"Ray's seriously injured. Can't they wait until he's healed to get engaged?" she asked.
"Can Nicholas's birthday be postponed? Of course not. You need to handle things at the company. We'll be back after the engagement," Joshua said before hanging up.
Isabella slammed her phone on the table in frustration. For the sake of his future, he really didn't care about anything.
Meanwhile, in a fancy manor in Pariz, a high-class birthday party was in full swing.
Nicholas, looking lively, was mingling with the guests, wine glass in hand.
Susan, in a tight white dress, was clinging to Ray. "Ray, look, I decorated Nicholas's birthday party this year. Isn't it nice?"
"It's nice," he replied.
"Nicholas said that after today's party, he'll announce our engagement. Do you have any objections?" Susan asked, looking at Ray expectantly.
Ray glanced at her and smiled. "Whatever he says."
"I knew you'd agree." Susan hugged Ray's arm, her eyes sparkling. "After we get engaged, let's get married right away, okay? How about on my birthday?"
Susan's birthday was in three months. She wanted to marry him as soon as possible to avoid any complications.
"Okay," Ray agreed to all of Susan's requests.
Susan was thrilled with Ray's response.
When Nicholas came over, Susan told him about their conversation.
"Nicholas, Ray and I discussed getting married right after the engagement. Do you have any objections?"
Nicholas glanced at Ray and then smiled at Susan. "As long as you're happy."
"Nicholas, after Ray and I get married, you can retire. With Ray's abilities, he'll definitely take EX Corporation to another level," Susan said proudly.
"Yes." Nicholas looked at Ray with a knowing look that only the two men could understand. "I believe in Ray's abilities."
"I believe too." Susan leaned sweetly against Ray.
"Susan, go get my treasured red wine. I want to have a drink with Ray. It's in my study; I took it out yesterday," Nicholas said.
"Okay, I'll go get it." Susan left happily, and the loving expression on Nicholas's face vanished instantly.
He looked at Ray, who was obedient to Susan, with a heavy heart. He had investigated his background; this man was not a simple character.
A wolf was still a wolf. He wouldn't turn into a sheep just because he had amnesia.
"Do you really love Susan?" Nicholas's question was more of an inquiry.
"Are you suspecting that I have other motives for marrying Susan?" Ray said, sipping his wine calmly.
Nicholas took a puff of his cigar. "Let's not beat around the bush."
"I don't understand what you mean," Ray said calmly.
"No, you understand. Don't you want to know who you are? Where you came from? What you used to do? Got any family?" Nicholas asked, staring intently into Ray's eyes.
Ray met his gaze and then smiled meaningfully. "Of course I want to know, but didn't you erase all of that?"
Nicholas took another puff of his cigar, his eyes filled with complex emotions. "You're too smart. How can I trust you with Susan?"
