Chapter Two - The Last Person I Expected To See Here.

Orson

“It is a pleasure to have you back, Mr. Maddox. Your table is ready.”

The manager greets me the second I walk into the hotel. The hotel staff always tries to please me because they know I have the power to fire them, as I co-own the place with my brother.

“Good evening, Amy. Has my guest arrived?”

With a subtle movement of her head, she answers. “Yes, she is now seated at your regular table.”

Amy leads me to my table, where my date, Mira, is waiting for me. I dine with her and hook up when she is in town, but she is not my girlfriend. She is an air hostess from Spain. She has a husband at home, but I don’t care about that. Her marriage is none of my business.

She smirks when she sees me approach and stands to greet me. I dismiss the manager, and she rushes off.

“Orson.” She says and hugs me.

Fuck, her accent is sexy. My name smoothly glides off her tongue.

“Mira,” I respond, returning the hug.

It’s been about half a year since we last saw each other. Tonight, I have a room booked for us in this hotel. She needs to leave early tomorrow morning, which works for me. It means I don’t need to sneak off.

When we part, I take a moment to glance over her. Her long, dark hair flows over her shoulders, and a short, tight red strapless dress clings to the curves of her perfect body. The woman is a goddess.

Her tongue darts along her red-painted lips. “Did you miss me, Orson?” she purrs, her fingers dancing down my chest.

I grasp her hip, embracing her. “You know I did. You missed me, too.”

She nods and pecks my lips before she retakes her seat. “I ordered us a bottle of your favourite white wine.”

A drink sounds good, especially after the day I’ve had. Everly is mainly to blame. That woman is the source of my misery. If she wasn’t so talented at her job, I would have fired her already. She effortlessly pushes my buttons. Why am I even thinking about her?

“Thank you.” I smile.

The waiting staff promptly bring us the bottle and offer us a menu before hurrying away. They know better than to linger around me. It annoys me when people do that.

Mira runs her foot up my thigh. “Did you remember to book our room? I desperately need my fix. It has been too long.”

“Of course. Once we eat, we can head straight there.”

Why did she even ask? She knows me better than that. I booked it the second she told me she would be back in the city.

A smirk spreads across Mira’s face. “Mmm, this is so good. We should order food. I don’t want to waste too much time. We only have tonight.”

“Which we will make the most of.”

She nods, and we focus on the menus to pick our meals. We’ll pick something quick and easy to avoid wasting time. Mira chats, and I listen, but a familiar laugh catches my attention. No, it can’t be. Everly can’t afford this place.

My eyes scan the room and fall on her. She is sitting at a table in a sexy little black dress, but she isn’t alone. She’s with a man who appears older than her. Who the fuck is he? It can’t be her boyfriend. He must be in his fifties, at least. Maybe he is, and she has daddy issues, either that or she is with him for his money. It wouldn’t surprise me; she is a bitch who would do something like that.

I will keep my distance because she is the last person I want to deal with tonight. She won’t want to see me either.

“Orson, are you listening to me?” Mira laughs.

I focus my attention back on her. “Yes, sorry. I am.”

Her eyes shift towards where I was looking. “Who is that?”

“Everly, she works for me. She is a pain in my ass.” I snarl.

“Oh, is that the one you mentioned before?”

“Yes, I am referring to her. I have no idea how she can afford such a place. She must be using him for his money or something.”

“Ignore her. It is her life; she can do as she pleases.” She says.

“Yes, sorry. My attention is yours.”

Everly isn’t worth me thinking about.

Exiting the bathroom, I see Everly coming out of the ladies’ room. She hasn’t noticed me yet; she has been too busy with her sugar daddy.

“Are you having fun with your sugar daddy?”

The sound of my voice makes her head shoot up. Her demeanour changes the second her eyes fall on me. Guilt is clear as her eyes widen.

“That is none of your business.” She hisses.

“I didn’t see you as the type who likes men old enough to be your father.”

In a display of annoyance, she rolls her eyes. “What if I am? How does that affect you? Jealous?”

I scoff, “Jealous? What reason do I have for jealousy? I don’t even like you.”

“Why else are you invested in my life?”

“I am not invested. Enjoy your old man dick.”

“Despite his age, he knows what he’s doing. He is a real man with experience. I prefer men like him rather than arrogant, selfish men like you.”

Disgusted by her words, I screw up my face in response. Moving closer to her, our bodies nearly touching, “Don’t worry, sweetheart, I excel in that area.”

With her hand on my chest, she forcefully pushes me away. “Do not call me sweetheart, jackass.”

She doesn’t allow me to speak again. She turns on her heels and scurries off. My eyes fall on her ass. Damn, her ass looks good in that dress. Yes, I hate her, but I am a man, and her beauty doesn’t go unnoticed. With the hatred between us, I am positive the sex will be mind-blowing. Hmm, it is something I could make happen. You can fuck someone with no feelings. If nothing else, it will add some interest to work.

I return to the table. We’re done with dinner and ready to head to the room. I pass by Everly’s table, and she glares at me. I greet her with a smile. Once again, she rolls her eyes before turning her attention back to him.

“Ready to go to our room?” I ask Mira as I approach our table.

“Always.”

She gathers her things and gets to her feet. I hold her hand and guide us out of the restaurant, heading up to the penthouse on the top floor. It gives us more privacy and also has a rooftop pool and a hot tub. I plan on fucking her in both. She’s exactly what I need, always a distraction. The chemistry between us is off the charts in bed. We’ve been involved for two years and are familiar with each other’s bodies, preferences, and dislikes.
