Raelynn Hazelwood lived in the shadow of life. Bullied for her looks, quietness, and odd outlook on life, she spent most of her time at home taking care of her deaf brother and sick mother.
A year ago, a break in took her mother’s life, and while they chalked it up to a burglary gone wrong; Raelynn doesn’t buy it.
Secretly, she plans to find out what went wrong, while attending college, and working towards giving her little brother a better life in the hope that they can get away from their abusive father.
A psychology class project pairs her up with Kieran Decker, the most popular boy from high school, and someone who used to bully her, which creates a domino effect in her life. But just as Raelynn feels like things are finally looking up, the web of lies and betrayals unravel before her eyes, and she decides to take matters into her own hands.
Kieran Decker had it all. At least...that’s what everyone thought. He had the looks, the body, money, and just enough personality to keep everyone clinging to him, but underneath the façade, he hates himself.
Growing up with an abusive father, absent mother, and the expectation to be the perfect prodigy caused Kieran to spiral in his self-hatred. As an underground fighter, he uses his fists to make enough money not to rely on his family name, but it’ll never matter how far he strays; He’ll always be a Decker.
Being paired with Bambi felt like a prison sentence at first, but over time, Kieran realizes that she’s not who he thought she was, and fears how drawn he is to spending time with her. But old habits die hard, and Kieran isn’t ready to tear down the walls he’s built so high.
